Thermotec does also keep the exhaust hotter. I'm, not saying it replaces coating the pistons, but they do the same "thing" ie. keeping the exhaust hotter. On 13th Jul, 2012 Ben H said:
Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem. |

Unsure of this topic but from what i understand it keeps your pistons cooler so they are more reliable (already said) reduces heat absorbtion into the oil increases efficiency and power due to the heat released for the combustion of the fuel/ air is kept where it should be, in the cyclinder and not rejected into water and oil. I think you can get valves, cyclinders and ports coated in this ceramic coating and has quite a positve effect on power increase but would cost alot but if you have the money. Just an idea could you get your charger coated in this coating to keep it cooler and hense keeping your charged air cool dunno if it would work would probs keep the under bonnet area cooler any ideas.

Im no expert and a bit nieve but if you get your afr set correctly for the output then excessive heat should not be reached.I will probably get shouted at now by some keyboard warriors!! ha ha |

I personally think piston coatings are a very good idea - I will certainly be including it in my next engine build.
