you may be suprised paul, mate of mine got done for 95 in a 40 was to fast to get offered the course or points so it went to court, he got a two week ban no points and the fine and costs didnt even hit £200.

I was in a 30 thats the difference, 40is more acceptable.

Did the officer record the conversation with you?
Good luck in court, a lot of these seem to be dependant on the judge. You seem that you will learn from this mistake you just have to portray this to the judge.
Get some good references and imo your best chance is to represent yourself.
You should prepare for a ban and if your lucky you'll be stung with 6 points and a fine.

looking at it from a differing angle, a mate of mine lost his licence a couple of years ago now for speeding (over 100 undertaking an unmarked car on a duel carriageway so he deserved it!). He was a company director and had a pretty strong case regarding his livelyhood etc. He ended up loosing his licence for 6 months which he agreed actually worked out better for him in the long run as it cleared the points he had so put him back to square 1 on that front.

you say you need to take your inlaws shopping as they can't afford a car; simply lend them yours for 6 months while your on the ban if it comes to it.

Finally, I think we can all sympathise as I'm sure most of us have done the same thing at some point in our lives - even if we don't think it is right now
