my oinderstaning is any new black/white/silver plates must have the info...

but, on an old car how are they going to know these plates are new? for that reason I think the fuzz are very unlikly to bother looking at black plates unless they are on a post 73 car.

Does this apply to pre-73 pressed aluminium plates? I've just had a "fully legal set" made up (needed the V5 & utility bills) and, as expected, the plates I got are just the registration with silver border, no company names, BS mark?

No I dont think so, because the BS mark, for the BS AU 145d standards only came into force post 2001, so a fully legal black and silver set of pressed plates like yours would not need to be BS marked as they are not covered by the BS AU 145d standard in design terms even though they were produced post 2001. Infact putting the BS mark on them would probably make them illegal!

pre 73 front plate is exempt from any size, style or font, as long as it can be clearly read from 20yards away,
ive always had b/s plates and theyve been stick on's too,
never had any trouble when ive been pulled....

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

i dont doubt you've ever had any any trouble with them as PC Plod probably doesnt know what the law is either!

pre 73 plates still have regulations to comply with, they have to comply with the law at the time the car was made, and as no one knows that your pretty damn safe! although this website does have size requirements for classic plates http://www.theplatemarket.com/display_of_r...ion_numbers.php

personally i think plod just appreciates a good classic car and doesnt care about anything as minor as an iffy numberplate, they will be more interested in the reason they pulled you in the first place!

newark on trent (notts/lincs border)

rear numbeplates are not curved on a mini, stick on plates are legal

ABS and traction control are for people that should not have bought a car that fast!
To build a fast car from demon tweeks parts is more expensive than a Bugatti Veyron outright!!

No, their really not! I'm not arguing with you as there is no argument, stick on plates quite simply are not legal. If you can provide some proof as to why you think they are...

The reason stick on plates arent legal is because joe bloggs could make one up at random and use it for petrol theft or other purposes.

this site is a hub of good information, i only want to see that people get the facts thats all.

whether you have been pulled or not stick on plates are not legal, neither are the carbon ones i have made, never said they were, the are closer to legal than stick on ones but that means nothing.

Look good, but not worth a fine and possible points, unless you're too good for the law in which case fire away.
