ah right, you can buy intake pipe that creates this effect.

Well you can buy almost anything of eBay.

Before anyone takes this seriously a bit of reading up on compressor (or turbine) flow dynamics is required.

The main issue is that a turbocharger compressor runs at a whole range of speed/loads.

So it isn't as simple as putting a few fixed bits of metal in a pipe.

In that French paper I linked above they did all their experiments with variable guide vanes, not fixed

Which is how a modern gas turbine (aircraft engine) deals with it - variable IGVs.....
