Not at all, I know him through a friend. I didn't pay anywhere near that... But and it is a big but, if you have a system that cost £15k and I'm not saying I do, you need a cable thatll let the quality of the sound get to the speakers. Good quality costs money. People that build cars know this, it's the same with audio.

It's fine to have a richer sounds system with £2 a meter cable but not so when you upgrade. I'll happily demonstrate the differences.

Jim, I didnt understand any of that contolled by pc stuff, lol.

I have gone a bit far with my home automation. The house talks to you when you come home, tells you if you've had any missed calls, and from who, the tempreture of the house etc. When the house knows your home (from motion sensors) it turns the heating on in the location your in (workshop, house or pub). if it's dark it turns the lights on, and again turns lights off when you leave. When someone rings the door bell, it pauses the live tv and a photo of them apears on my tv, and a two touch sreen picture frames which I can move around the house. If I'm not home then I get an email of them to my iphone. A simular thing happens when the phone rings, the computer speaks the callers name and displays this also on the tv also pauses it., and emails it to me if I'm out.

When you leave the tv or kitchen for a while the tv will turn off the tv in that room, and turn back on when you come in.

It's growing month by month, I have over 100 device in my home which I can either get infmation from, or control. All by any internet pc, or voice commands in the house, or touch screen tablet.

Sounds awsome jim. So basicly you just sit with your feet up and do fook all and it does it for you.

Are you going to get it to rock the baby back to sleep and change it nappy during the night.lol

Think im just going for the surround for now*happy*

Alex, whats Boxee like, I've been messing about with XBMC, I cant put my finger on it but it just doesnt quite do it for me.

One thing I do like with XBMC is that you can run it live without a pre-installed OS, doesnt look like you can do that with Boxee?

You'll probably want to be using optical cables and hdmi cables and nothing else, Rick. I haven't used RCAs in my setup in years.

Simon, boxee is the best thing since sliced bread, and miles above xbmc. The polished feel, internet feeds and general usability make it top notch.

Rick, could you be clever and plaster a small cable duct into the wall, use say 1.5" water waste drain pipe and push fittings, and leave a draw cord in there.

Then after your plasterers have been and gone you can install whatever cables at your leisure.

as Tom says, but make sure any corners dont have sharp edges otherwise you'll be in snag central,

and when you pull the cables in spunk some pledge (or similar) on them to make them a bit glidy,

and if you do loose the draw string just suck a new one through with a hoover.

Cheers I'll give it a shot, I was concerned it wouldnt be that much better considering its running of a fork of the XBMC code.

That would be a good idea, but ive pritty much sorted it, got both hdmi's run, got the arial up and a socket on the wall, all i need now is to work out how to get the sound from the tv to amp???
