I had some similar problems a few years ago on my 998, turned out to be the bullet connecters behind the grill, I hired an auto electrician to come out because i had quite a few other problems... gotta say i really rate them, im not great with electrics but will give anything a go once, he fixed everything and tidied up my wiring in less than an hour, money well spent i thought

that roughly translates as he either:-
a. can't be bothered
b. if he fixed it, it would cost you more than a new loom

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

I have the loom from my 78 clubman which I'm going to replace. I'd swap you my unbutchered loom for your butchered one plus a few quid my way.

I fully agree, a guy i rebuilt a gearbox for once had the RAC out to his sports pack, it was hilarious. He tried telling him the clutch was contaminated with oil, the electrics were totally shot and the car was a write off/dangerous.

It turned out the clutch needed bleeding and he needed a new fuse lol.

Lay the new loom out and label it up to match what's on the car.
Pull the old loom out and put the new one in it's place, then just connect it all up.

Piece of cake.
