It's definatly a t3...

thou not a metro T3... its been rebuilt with a bigger exh houseing and 360 degree bearing. ie Escort RS Turbo spec.

Why do you say its not Jon?

Alex

It has something to do with 10 years or more experience tuning the A Series turbo, i have NEVER seen a T3 pull from anywhere less than 3000 rpm, you say it is laggy!!

So you're using an RS turbo exhaust housing, now there is an idea!!..been doing that for years!!*wink*

So a T3 turbo possibly with a bigger exhaust housing(slighty more lag) that brings on a flat torque/BHP curve from approximately 2300RPM..please explain...Are you sure Bryan Slark has'nt got the RR printout mixed up with someone elses!!*wink*

Not trying to be funny just i am fVcking amazed!!

Anyway get the thing on the track and Avon.

Dude, Its def' a T3! No lies hybrids or trix! I always wanted to get a programable ignition, I think that would have improved the lperformance even more. It is quite a quick little car! P.s. It was neil and rich on the Rollers that day, brian was outside in the sun!

How much more power any one will need when this mini spins wheels in 4th gear I don't know ?

Time to get the 145R10s off, and stop driving when it's raining cats and dogs :)

On Black ice it might. No Mini with decent tyres light them up in fourth on tarmac.

...Infact if you see the pics from the RR in MW you will notice that it needs two people in the car and a person on each doorsteps to keep it down! *laughing*

it is a genuine engine, no trick or fancy hidden bits, what you see is what you get. a combiation of clever head work, (origin from downton engineering) and all put together properly. ive been in alot of fast cars, i shit myself everytime my bro takes me out in it. hes very modest about his turbo mini! very under rated!! he races motor bikes, cars are no comp! just ask him about the kawasaki ninja up A38!

choppo and i found out what worked and what didnt. notice that going to extreme lengths on turbo charging dont always pay. its always pulled low down on the rev range, even with a stock actuator set up. its great. i have to hand credit to neil, brian and rich at SRE

my assumption is that combustion chambers have a huge influence on the flow/performance. you dont wana go cutting them to silly shapes or so i understand (seems to work hey)*smiley*

they Built me the same engine as my bro, but with offset valves 32/36.5 and clever exhaust porting along with the piper t3 cam. you see, its all in working the turbo and flow (i feel) so hi flow is the key, esp with a large (T3) turbo.

cant wait to see what my engine pumps out if my bro's has 182 lpb/ft!

its just sitting prity all wraped up! shame im guna be a dad in 6 weeks! eatherwise i would be on the case!!!

oh, and ask choppo about when he over takes cars (vegard) as he never takes it out of 4th, swear on my life, just dosent need to, it pulls strait up! yes, and it wheel spins in 4th gear, thats why choppo never uses it, he dosent want to break it, has alot of car respect! (plus the fact that the torque stear dosent help)

oh and i have to say this, cos it bugs me. on ultimate mini exreme dvd, (of which matts car is featured) notice his car only ran 7psi (look at the boost gauge in the inside footage!) and crank the volume up, and listen to the wheels spining! emagine what its like, esp when ran with twice as much boost!

dont you just love a heated debate?.... cupa tea anyone? ....

Nope...

I built mine... but then realised I really do like minis and wanted a road one.

I could very easily build another turbo mini... I've got 2 or 3 spare turbo engines and enough of the other bits you need to do it. At the moment, because of work I am sort on time! The upside is that I can go and purchase a ready made package *happy*

I will still develope my black one, but there are several things I want to look at 1st before I go chasing power figures... cooling, ign control, boost control to name just three!

So Matt's old mini is for a fun road car! Besides its very pretty... your all missing the MAIN point *wink*
