Went to wire in my oil temp today, exact same wiring as the oil pressure, instructions say:

Red - 12v
Black - battery negative
Orange - dimmer
Green - sender/sensor

Now when it said 'battery negative' I assumed it meant ground/earth, so that's what I have been doing. Tried wiring it up, nothing, thought I would just give it a shot wiring it to the negative battery terminal, bingo, works like a charm, so I'm guessing oil pressure is the same, unfortunately I cannot test this as I can't turn the engine over.

May I suggest you have an earth path issue as it should work eathing it on the body of the car or engine block *Nerd*

thats how it seems, but its strange because everything else is earthed through the body ok? backlight for all the gauges, leccy fan etc etc. the earth cable in the boot is new also?

checked today, battery to body strap is in good nick, cleaned the body up, moved my engine earth strap back from engine to inner wing, cleaned both surfaces up and still wont earth through the body, nor will my engine turn over, who knows.
