Of course. The speed in the reversal areas is ZERO, so that makes sense.

All new cars have got liners ( well almost) Why if this is so bad???

I said force... as in F=MA

At higher RPMs the accelertaion is greater, is it not?

Why do new car have them? Probably because they have alloy blocks and liners are cheap!

I had the camera in the garage earlier so took a picture to help people identify linered blocks.

In the picture at the edge of the bores there is quite clearly visible the end of the liner.

Cheers Tom,
That confirms it for me - I've yet to be unlucky enough to find a linered block in a donor engine.
So long as Iain keeps finding them, that'll do for me!

Thats not got liners Gav,

I have used blocks with liners before even out to 73.5mm, Its a chance you have to take now as there getting difficult to find.

I very much doubt you will get a problem boring it out to +020.

If that picture dosn't show liners then what the heck is that sticking out the bottom of the bores... as it sure looks like liners to me having installed a few in different engines over the years.

Could you supply us with a picture of an A-Series liner block for future ref.

just to further confuse it, That's not my picture. It's Tom's that has the liners.

So, Are these only on really early blocks, or did they just feature on turbo's mainly?

Late blocks as in '88 / '89 / '90 or even later (with the casting numbers in the front?)

yep, casting numbers on the front, not sure what type of mains so cant tell exactly how late but casting numbers means it fairly late yeah?
