to me its not about being able to drive on the mass of roads, its about emissions. your paying that price for emissions. i had a diesel fiesta and it also cost me £130 for 6months. i had to send it to its doom even though it worked fully. because i cannot afford that money to run it. but now i have a smaller car which is £20 a year to tax. which is brilliant.

Basically were paying for emissions. when the state of things gets worse (which it may or may not) they will put it up higher on older cars emissions. for what it is, its jumped about 25% in the last 5 years or so for the mini?

im only young with a low income, it just seems that they're pulling every little penny from us in every way possible.

anyway i agree £130 isnt that much, but its the fact that its gone/going up.

WOW, £130 to be able to drive on thousands and thousands of miles of roads. Sound like a bargain to me. As above £130 is a very small % of what a car costs to run for 12 months.

It's not likely to rise massively or quickly, it would be too unpopular.

What i don't understand is why people think something for nothing is a is a reasonable request, when all other motorists have to pay.

As a guess, a significant proportion of classic car owners have the classic as a second car, so not people who are strapped for cash. Certinally on this forum, most have the mini as a second car.

you wont be happy to pay taxes when they put it up soo high you cant afford it!!! they will put it up a lot soon because they dont like classic cars. they think theyre a bad influence on the atmosphere. my tax has gone upto £130 for 12months on the mini...
