That's what I've got in mine 10/40 & an avonbar spring & steve the thing is with goin back is its 160mile one way & he set the timing at 30+ degrees at 3500 rpm which at the time didn't realise how bad it was & my fuels been wrong aswell I wouldn't have the confidence to go back again you never run back into the fire twice. Been running ok at the min till my brother Killed a turbo today tho *frown*

I personally like a little richer than that. I aim for low 12's high 11's for safety. However I think 12.5-12.7 is where the most power is.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

I would never let my car see 14:1 on boost, no matter how economical it made it.

This sound like the classic running out of fuel in the float bowl to me.

Coulf be FPR related, i.e. not set high enough. Or simply that your pump will not supply enough fuel and the float bowl is emptying.

It has to be this,
i had this problem at combe in the pickup, i raised pressure at the reg slightly sorted it.

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

I changed the needle for an avonbar high boost one & it sorted it & I meant 14 off boost for economy not 14 on wot sorry if that's what it sounded I was intending

I think you need to be a little more flexible. 12.5 -13 AFR will be fine depending on boost level and CR. For example I run my car on either 12psi or 5 psi, 5psi is so low that it runs happily at 13:1.

On cruise I aim for 16:1, 14.7 is unnecessarily rich.

I run 18psi on 8.5:1 cr with shell v-power, even on a warm day, 30deg. I have had no signs of det.

I,m with wil - 16 or 17 to 1 on cruise is fine .My engine goes off scale at 18:1 when on a very light throttle but still runs just fine - drops straight back to 12:1 as soon as you floor it.

I,m using a standard spring and 10/40 oil.

Eden did you ever get to the bottom of your problem mine seems to be back some times its fine then another times it just seems to lean out for unknown reason but not every time. Does it in 3rd &/or 4th but definitely goin lean can be seen on aem & saved before the brick wall cut out happens also iam only set at 10psi boost at the min

yes mate, it was tight guides pinching at top end,

i never had a lean out would just die and take aroud 5-10 seconds to recover.

if you get a lean out then you need to get to the bottom of that

how much is it leaning out?

a misfire will read as a lean out on a wideband.

Well if I keep me foot down to the boards it will lose all power like I run out of fuel but it happens quick so it can easy catch you out as it doesn't do it all the time but I seen the aem earlier start to go lean. My normal was around about 11ish wot then went to 14+ caught it & backed straight off (running rich at wot as iam only 10psi bit more boost will sort that out) Iam thinking either fuel pump or fpr. Iam also unsure if I need to change the std metro turbo fuel lines when upping the boost or is the originals up to the job?
