I've done 17k in my mk II since last september, and these are the first major jobs I've had to do on it :) (I'm only doing the gearstick and clutch cos the missus can't drive it)

Cost £60 to get it through an mot at 117k miles

And it's fun to drive

Come to think of it, why am I messing about with minis?........ *laughing*

I do recall telling feebs about this, and I remember other peoples comments about suitable cars when he was looking for a daily driver before.

I see how it goes -
feebs makes a commet/asks a question
people give replies/advice
feebs ignores and does own thing
feebs trys to buy back red mini

Sorry if this sounds harsh mate *indifferent*

Come on then Nova boy, what does a Nova in standard form do better than a Golf GTi Mk2 or a 205 GTi to name two from this thread.

Talking STANDARD cars here????

I ALWAYS LISTEN TO ADVICE and NEVER IGNORE YOU/DO MY OWN THING. FFS.
The only time ive done my own thing was before when i thought it was stupid to ask, like the washer in the engine. I never do against what people say, TurboDave & Benross always say the right thing. Would you care to quote a situation or delete your post Neil8p?

Bought red mini back once. once.

Here is my recipe for keeping any old jam jar free from the dreaded tin worm-

Oil the underneath once a year. Use a nice thick oil (gearbox oil is good, cheapest you can get), and brush it on under the floorpan.
Inject the sills and any other box section with a mixture of oil thinned down with white spirit.

Keep an eye out for loose underseal and any areas of unpainted metal, and hose of any build up of muck and bullets.

Use fresh oil for the treatment. Old oil stinks to high heaven and isn't as good at preventing corrosion.

I've kept old cars free of any serious corrosion using that technique for years.

Nope to both, and I'm not going to argue with you either.
