To put the records straight i think the Mini(my) will win to as i have stated in a previous post.

I don't think for one minute the Impreza will just fall apart!

I actually think/know the mini is quicker off the mark, you can just feel it, the mini is pure animal and the Impreza is smooth torque curve but doing 25 mph per 1000 RPM in top gear as opposed to 17 mhp with the min!

I hope the mini proves quicker!....i will be TM's own stig!

But come on what are turbo minis all about??(OK Rich and valvers)...about power to weight and wooping "better" machinary?

Correct?.something like that??

Kin ell gents was'nt starting some anti subaru faction!!

Anyway don't mess with me i've had 6 tins of Stella!

Get it filmed, because a friend of mine in Norway ditched Minis for Prezzas... It'd be nice if the Mini was faster :)

Seeing how Jon drives I think it would be very close, but the mini would probably win.

Compare like for like - i.e. strip the scooby of some of it weight and I think the subaru would be quicker, round combe anyway.

I like scoobies, in fact we were considering getting another one :)

I have a couple of vids of scoobies going round Combe - one is of a 2.5 litre conversion going very quick and the other is someone who got it a bit wrong....

No, don't you think that the Mini will suffer more?? The Prezza easily pulls one person more, but the Mini :)

Yea, we are going to have to leave jim out, not saying you are fat mate, but you will affect the power to weight ration drasticly in the mini and not as much in the scooby!

Now you wouldnt waant to give the scooby an advandage would you?

I like my Mini.
I like my Impreza, (and I'll like it more when it comes back with a rebuilt more powerful engine*happy* )

If the roads were smooth and the sun shone all the time I'd use the Mini.
BUT... they aren't and it doesn't, so the Subaru is my travel to work and go to shows car.

Horses for courses..:)

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

If its anything like as quick as that scooby estate at york it will cain the mini!

That scooby estate at york must have been packing some serious power, plus he gave it stick all day long and seemed fine!

I reckon he was pushing 400bhp ish or more?

if it was up in the bhp he would have uprated loads to run that sort of power...

its ok if you improve mods together but when you up the boost abit and not tooch out else they cant cope...or thats the way my mates was.

I am interested to hear all this talk of Subaru's blowing up.

The only problem I have heard of is they don't like being run on normal unleaded, instead they like super/optimax/whatever. I knew a chap with a Subaru that used unleaded (regular) and in the end it burnt the valves out for some reason.
I used to use both regular and super in my Legacy Turbo, it was noticeably quicker on super.
Hope you enjoy yours Jon they are especially nice during the winter when it is slushy slippy and horrible on the roads.

Gotta say that it would only be a 'fair' test if the scoob was equally as tuned as the mini - if you see what I mean?!

The real test would be a standard scoob v mini with standard turbo engine, better comparison (if you see what i'm thinking!) coz if you carried out the same type of tuning mods to a scoob as a sorted mini turbo it would be pumping 400 donkey's and have sorted suspention too!

As for scoobys busting - anything will if you don't look after it and drive like a chav! I've never seen one on the hard shoulder etc
My scoob gets royal lovin' on the lanes to work every day and is still sweet as a nut. (Mines standard other thana pipe.) The problems come when you just wind the boost up and do bugger all else to the engine - much like an A series!! *wink*
