Over stretched tyres are of as much use as an over stretched fanny.

Neither look good either.

What do you mean by over heated? The rubber peeling over?

When you look at the tire on the rim of the 7" wide you can tell its a bit stretched but no where near to the degree of the pictures posted by sprocket. I think mine are running inner tubes aswell. I brought them of a lad off here and never split them.

Haha

never really liked over stretched tyres myself, if it affects the way the car handles negatively then its not worth it.

just read some of the police stuff sprocket posted there was a mention of possible overheated tires due too stretched tires:) as you say a 70 profile 165 on a 7" rim does not look stretched at all compared too sprockets daily8-)

My Falkens are stretched but only slightly, ive noticed that after running low pressures after dragging the side walls are scuffed and damaged. They also get damn hot!

However they are fine when pumped up to the correct pressure.

Thing is Nic, 6.5" rim is not exactly excessive is it. 7" is pushing it, and anything more is just daft, as there is absolutely no performance benefit what so ever.

Don't lets get started on golf cart tyres either *Shooting*

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

I belive mine are 7s, but they could be slightly wider, Mr Austin will know better.

Not that im all for stretched tyres on cars, but the dangers arnt as bad a people make out.

Younger bro has run them for years, and not just for show, the've done many laps of the ring, cadwell, donnington and croft.
Hes never ever had a problem, and they were very streched like in sprocks pic?

Most of the bmw m-sport wheels and tyres look stretched, my dads 335 has the 19" m sport wheels the front and rear tyres are stretched and thats from the factory, he has just had wider tyres fitted all round from 225-235 front and 255-265 on the rear they now arent stretched on the same tyre type

I suppose you can get way with that much negative camber with stretched tyres, since the side wall might as well be part of the thread anyway *hehe!*
