Thanks minivan mine reads the same but then also my gear is only a digital vernier to so not perfect for the job. I'm starting the think it's the new type of seals. Most seal places say the red ones are better due to the material. The actual seal point it quite an aggressive point.

Using the search button shows that a Couple of members switched back to the black style seals with good results. I think this might be my attack.

I would like to install a breather but I don't fancy taking the side cover off and introducing more leaks and dirt into the transfer gear casing. But then maybe I will be forced to it this seal doesnt work.

Will order a new clutch from minispares tomorrow. I might get a new primary only beacause they are not too bad on price for the 998. But there must be loads of people running them with a couple of small wer rings on them and they are not leaking.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

Well I have had some seals delivered

The black one with the dust seal measures 53.17mm

The black super dupe mini speed Luf10005 measures 52.45mm

The minispares orange one, 53.60mm but it's a used so might be a dot bent

All internal bore, so some viable difference.......

Well I have all the bits so will slap it all together tomorrow and hopefully all is we'll.

I'm going to use the mini speed seal as it looks like its got the most meat and it's the smallest.

well everything is back together and ready for a test tomorrow. Will have to see if I was right that the seal was shite.

I have given the primary a light clean up before re-assembly. Hopfully no more leaks.

Quarry Bonk

I changed a box on a 35k mile 998 at work the other day, the place where the drop gear that sits on the crank, where it catches on the oil seal, was at least 10thou worn, if not more. Of course there was a little oil in the bottom of the flywheel housing. It was extremely easy to push the gear through the transfer case with the seal already in place *indifferent*

well the Minispeed LUF10005 seems to be holding up well.

Driving the mini today was a bit of a mad idea.
