The lotus active style suspension might be intresting anyone know where thier times were last year during the young drivers test? they were running the system then.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

The active suspension has already been banned.

This is a take on it that has been approved by the FIA. I presume is some fluid thing, that has no driver input.

Hi Graham, The active suspension that Lotus had developed did pass FIA testing, but when Ferrari developed a similar system, the FIA decided to ban both systems, and now active type suspension systems are banned due to the aerodynamic influences. Shame, all the great innovations are ruled out :(

Autoexpress on the ball there then, this all happened weeks ago.

Not much inovation allowed this year, which might make for close racing.

Whilst i agree, that its nice and entertaining to keep the racing as close as possible, surely formula 1 should be about pushing the boundries of what is physically possible? Theres plenty of close formulas that rely on driver skill to seperate the drivers rather than the cars, but thats not what forumla 1 should be imho....

I know, i know, its all done to keep costs down, and the smaller more effecient engines are done to help the environment etc etc...... This obviously works well, i mean its not like they fly halfway round the world with tens of tonnes of stuff every other week, clearly those planes are fuelled by air, not jet fuel, and hence are very nearly free and dont pollute at all.......

I know a lot of the restrictions are to do with driver safety, and this i do wholeheartedly agree with, but i would really like to see what sort of things they could come up with if the restrictions were loosened......

Just my 2p.

And on the 7th day........... God created turbochargers!

I totally agree, and I think that Ben does too. He's just stating facts.

Don't be surprised to see a few innovations though.

So, testing is over. No cear pattern has emerged through the mud that is testing times.

My personal opinion is that the order remains the same, but it's all a little colser. Merceds and Force India the most improved.

First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

Herefordshire

Vettel will prove more dominant than last season.

Hulkenburg should be one to watch.

I'm hoping mercedes and force india will be doing battle with a struggling Alonslo

Edit:

Ive set up a fantasy league, see here: http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.php?p=vt&tid=467552

I think lotus and Kimi are looking good too. I don't think there is much between the top few though.

I also tip Kimi doing well. Never really took much notice when he previously done F1. Now, I reckon he could be a dark horse. I thought he did well in WRC considering and it would of kept his reaction times sharp. Like to see Button & Schuey do well.
On the Sky front, I too won't get it. They are money grabbing bastards...damn monopoly!
Going to save money instead and go to Spa to watch it.

But.....here's a link for those who want to see all the full races.
Great site, I use it for all the Australian V8 Supercar races. *happy*

Having seen the live timing, I'd say the order has only changed from Ferrari looking in trouble. Lotus isn't nearly as strong as it looks. Grosjean lost 28secs in an 11 lap run compared to vettel at the same time. And was quoted as saying "I could only keep up for a few corners"
Mclaren are best of the rest.

This is FORD country, on a quiet day you can hear Vauxhalls rusting.

Well the first race is bearing down on us. The coverage on the BBC is highlights so we will soon see how that is going to work out. It has knocked the edge off the build up a little.

I am considering another dish on the house, a new decoder and getting RTL Germany. Then listening to the commentry on Radio5 live. Anything but pay sky.

You have to love sky. The android f1 app that was free last year is £20! I would like to see how many people pay for that. £5 fair enough, but 20 quid!!!!!
