If you don't have an arial you don't have to have one, my old next door neighbour had a tv with Xbox and dvd, they inspected his house and said one wasn't required as he had no means of recieving tv.

If you don't have an ariel but do have virgin or sky then you still have the means to watch tv and they will expect that you get a licence. but doesnt the tv lic pay for me to watch the bbc not itv, ch5 etc so in reality they are stopping me from watching everything else. doesnt seem right. im sure they earn enough from advertising dont they. plus is they didnt pay the baffoon chris moyles and (although funny) old clarkson is way over paid. |

Clarkson is worth every penny! In all seriousness the amount the Beeb make out of reselling TG overseas (and the amount of times it is repeated here!) they must make a fortune. Like to see them try it without him! No 5th gear here! he is still over paid regardless of how funny he is. i'm not saying hes a great man at what he does but if you could see his earnings last year it was stupid. ok most came from topgear and stig stuff but still its beyond a joke. |

You are missing the point - big money = Clarkson = Top Gear. Top Gear sales to other countries = big money for BBC.

I must admit, I thought the same as Mike. I might be wrong, I thought iplayer wasn't available to those that live outside the UK because they are not licence payers?

I thought you had to have a tv licence in order to watch internet tv... No Mike, you only need a TV licence to watch live broadcasts, so for instance, you couldn't watch a live stream online, but you can watch iPlayer stuff which has already been broadcasted without having a TV license. Of course, people outside the UK could use a server in the UK to give them a UK IP address and get to iPlayer (VPN, SSH tunnel or a proxy). They might have to pay someone else for that service. Wrong! Just use the right client and Robert's your mother's brother! Enjoying not paying for BBC after paying licence fees for 22 years!!! On 5th Sep, 2011 Vegard said:
