Ok brilliant. Why would the float chamber not be working correctly? Problem with the carb?

Carb was rebuilt by myself and is in really good condition I would prefer to fix the underlying problem rather than mask it up if that makes sense

Gasket between the carb and plenum wrong way round blocking the hole that should do that?

No the gasket is the correct way round I made sure of that when I had the initial boost problem.
