Isn't that part of the intercooler though - and also just an exercise in homologation...

eg "stick a token-effort chargecooler on the production car, then a chargecooler of sorts is instantly homologated"

Yes Dave definately. A chap I know worked at Brooklyn Ford in the Midlands (one of the leading RS dealers) and once told me a few of the very very early Escort Cosworths he saw, had that chargecooler bit there, but not plumbed in from the factory.............

Homologation definately.

Also heard a story from a guy that helped build the 500 6R4's required to homologate that, apparently they were all put in the corner of a huge warehouse, as tight together as possible, and the fully finished working cars were the ones at the edges of the group you could get to, whereas the ones right at the back in the corner you could get nowhere near nor see other than in outline were little more than rolling shells................

Near Lincoln

it was plumbed in on my mates large turbo model (one the last ones), and is part of the coolant circuit, apparently some people put a pre-rad on to help things out a little, but supposedly are sufficient for 400bhp!!

the matrix which sits in the chargecooler is quite small but i assume designed for the job probably roughly 100x100x100, does the rest of the intercooler look like a sierra 4x4??
