I'm sorting out the connectors I've bought by PM at the moment.

I need to confirm that they fit first however, then I'll post up what I've found and offer the connectors to the relevant people.

looks like i had my eyes closed when looking a it mine is the same as yours

also for ref, a idle ((750 rpm-900rpm) i was still quite cold) mine will hold 13.90-14.00 volts, measured through a calibrated Megasquirt
anything over 1000rpm and 14.20v and thats a normal charge to me, the fuel pump puts a 0.2v drop in the overall voltage,... couldn test with lightts as my front loom is half shagged atm

The connectors I purchased for the alternator have now turned up, and do indeed fit correctly!

I shall be sending out PM's in a bit to those who have already got in touch with me about buying my spare 4 connectors.

I just bought connectors for my lightweight alternator (bought in the same alternator batch as Bretts on ebay), and I can tell you that the connectors that Brise sell are the correct plugs for the 2 pin alternators. Bought mine last week and is absolutely perfect.

Brett I was looking for this post as I spotted you had ground your bracket down so the pulleys line up. Did you just do it with a grinder? I was going to but was worried it might not end up square so the belts wonky!

I like what you've done there Brett. I'll probably be pinching that idea.

For a long bolt, a head stud fits nicely.

yeah hand grinder and eye balled it ( technical term round here )
imo it would be quite hard to get it too wonky as long as it looks straight
and tbh its 10x times better than the alternator that was on there ( factory one) that was out of line and eventually threw a bolt with the alternator shortly after

I've fitted mine in the same way. I checked for flatness using the verniers as even a bit of a wonky line on it made the pulley quite far out of line on my engine.

It was loads f fun filing 5mm of it manually...

Right, I was going to start a thread but as this is there.

Those of you with front mounted radiators, do you bother with any ducting to help keep the alternators cool?

I have been thinking about encasing mine in a tube, with a cold air feed as having just wrecked my side mount radiator have to go front mount.

The electric fan will also be blowing hot air at it.

mine is just stuffed in there in fact the coolant pipe actually rests on it

while the car is moving engine bay temps are reasonable its only after about 5 mins standing when under bonnet temps are high ( on mine at least )

EDIT: not saying its ok, just mine has not died yet lol

I ducted mine up from the lower vent (clubman front).

I Think I will duct it, even if its not needed there is a nice opening at the front to take a feed from.

Where did you get a belt from Brett? I have measured mine and it seems to be about 735mm

I measured it then went to halfrauds and bought a single v belt with correct length i thought it was 600mm but must have been longer if yours is 735mm i know its x00mm ie 600/700
