You are right, no compression. I wonder if snapping the throttle shut after such a long run at high RPM at that speed with a prolonged overun period, exposed the hot parts of the chambers suddenly to a deep vacuum, no cool inlet charge and no fuel to cool the chamber, after all, everything sounded fine right up to when it stalled.

I'll bet they wouldn't have tuned the overun area of the map propperly, and I would be surprised if they used fuel cut on such a vehicle. There are engine dynos that can create these overun conditions, basically the brake is an electric motor that can not only impose a breaking load, but also maintain the engine rpm on a closed throttle

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

That is probably why they were searching for a new block and used the "Open 24hr" machine shop to prep a new block... They must have done some major damage.

Maybe it contributed to the "moment" the driver experienced on the slow down.

Such a shame but at least they are going howm with the record! I bet they would have Baught that before they started

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.
VEMS + 12 PSI + Liquid Intercooler = Small Bore FUN!
