To be honest Steve, hasn't been that bad to start really, you just notice that difference when the car is hot, but the fan idea may be something to look into at a later date, got more pressing things to do on the car first as you know, will be over to see you shortly.. Alan

Ya lost me with that last bit ? mistaken identity ? lol

I would say the sole reason the ERA turbo had the vent above the carb was for this reason. Doubftul it was for cosmetic or any other.

9.85 @ 145mph
202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

Hi

ERA has the heat shield as per Metro Turbo, ERA is also a bitch to start when hot after a thrash, I can stop it for about 2 mins after a motorway thrash if I leave it longer the holding down throttle crank 20-30 seconds comes into play. Fuel just boils off from the carb.

The vents in the bonnet in the ERA are there as the area above the bonnet is a low pressure zone and under bonnet high pressure, so they effectively suck the hot air out whilst moving hence scoop being the wrong way around in many peoples eyes, until they understand what its doing. Heat also will rise and escape when stationery.
