Well they claim to have 98% 3G coverage of the UK, claim that to be more than any other operator, and on Ofcom's website they have the only 3G mast in my area, only 4 miles away, and on their coverage map it should work (outdoors as a minimum).

I think it's the phone, not "3"

Im on o2 and im getting 4Mb on H+. I only get 2Mb on my broadband!!!

If your not happy with it you should take it back to them and get them to sort it out because performance issues should be out of the question.

rod, do a search on google for basestation locations. it will tell you where the nearest 3 station is. might give you an idea why you have bad signal

I did before buying it and deciding on which network to use.

Ofcom have a site specifically for this;

http://www.sitefinder.ofcom.org.uk/search

That gives you a starting point, ie shows which networks are on your local masts (if its local coverage you are specifically interested in) and then all the major networks publish their own individual coverage maps. So I checked all the networks individual maps based on my two nearest masts' OfCom listings.

From all of that "3" should be the best where I live (which is why I think it is the phone just having poor reception, not the network as such).

Possibly in some places but not according to the OfCom maps for this area.
