If you are using a mini for cruising either stick a 2.95/2.76 in there with 1:1 drops and live with the pap performance off the line.

Or don't be daft and drive a modern car if you are doing intergalactic miles.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

minis were never ever designed to cruse for miles at motorway speeds. either buy another car as a daily or use the A roads, your stress levels will be lower and you'll actually get to see what the UK looks like, it's not all tarmac and concrete *wink*

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

My old 1275 i used to have it sat at 5k+ on the motorway just had ear plugs in lol, everyone seemed to get out of the way it was so loud. But having a mini as a daily is a life style not just for fun lol

I agree with colin. Take the a-roads and enjoy it. OK it will take longer but that means stopping more in places you will have never been for a rest. IMO build the engine for what you will get the most enjoyment from. Otherwise,,, whats the point?

I've got a Passat tdi which would happily get 60+mpg sitting at 70-80 with cruise control
But I'm talking about going to the international mini meet in Italy
If I wasn't taking a mini I would fly!!
Especially as I get discount BA flights

Seen enough of the uk roads as I use to be a car trader
Last year did 34k
Would I do that in a mini? Fuck No!

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

[sarcasm] Mine is great on the motorway [/sarcasm] SC/CR box, SC drops, 3.44:1 no sound deadening, no suspension travel.

It's like being rolled down a hill in a steel dustbin.

In the 13's at last!.. Just

What's the 3.44 like Gary? Always felt a bit short with a helical box but is it better with the long first on a SC box?
