also on the strip at one point it gave the car a big judder , maybe when getting grip and I think this is when the plate that the alternator adjustment bracket goes on snapped off have a look. as it was a clean break with no rust on the fresh joint.

which oil are you using and how many miles let you go before to change it?
pressured fidded laygear shaft seem to work for some very known ,I tried this and after a year of bad use and abuse on pre a+ close ratio innocenti gearbox I was pleased to see that only the diff was worn.

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

well fab when I used an oil feed layshaft it was in my N/A 1380 with around 110-115 bhp flywheel. I was using silcoline 15 w 50 synthetic pro 4 oil. and I changed it every 3000 miles. I have NO idea why it didn't work for me, there was a guy at minispares with a turbo and an oil feed layshaft and his mate told me he took his off as it made matters worse.

In thery it's a great idea.

fooking hell, cant believe its all back up and running again so soon!

i was watching the run at the pod, when you changed into 2nd i heard it crunch, remember thinking 'that'll go in easier next time' then just watched you coast over the finish line.

Glade you told me about what you heard, i wasn't sure if it happened from second to third or what as it happened so fast.
