So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

its been a while since I used a539s on the front. always remember them giving excellent grip for a road tyre. currently running them on the back of my turbo

I have a048rs (super soft compound) on the front of the turbo, these have lasted probably 2-3k road miles which I was surprised about. running an atb so no wheel spin, they could do with changing before long though. they provide excellent grip, the car is only a toy though and would not consider them on a daily car.

neither of these yokos have lasted decent milage really, I guess that's the trade off, softer compound/more wear/more grip.

on my mpi daily I use Dunlop sps. these have proved very good, all year round. they last a good while - maybe 8k+ on the front, also offer good performance on a road car.

My thought process... Buy some soft 48's bung them on the rear, wear down my other pair of 539's on the front and then get some meduim compounds for the front when they 539's wear out which should be fairly quickly if i dont get the new gearbox soon...

my missus has a set of medium compound 048r's on 10x6's which saw every weather possible and they where great, better than budgets in the snow too (and i expected in bad weather!)

They are available in medium or soft compound. As others have said though, don't expect many miles out of them, I got around 3k out of the fronts but most of that was hard driving on the road.

Unfortunately not. In 12" only M is available. That's why I use the 10" A032r in thw wet on my race car. They are S only.
The 165/55-12 is also 1/2" wider than the A032rs.

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

Yeah, but thats for the boys running slicks in the dry. But it will not be as good as a racing rain tyre in the wet.
I was driving a Alfa 75 V6 with 048s during a track day at the Ring, and had no chance to the Fiestas on proper rain tyres. The Fiestas was VLN cars and it was raining as hell. Aquaplaning in 4th in Flugplatz is no fun *wink*
