dont drive many cars then ??

i have a 2001 1800 vectra and it gives me 36mpg as a daily runner

Actually, I drive plenty of cars.

I have a 2000 Citroen Xsara VTS, a 1996 Peugeot 306 Turbo Diesel, a 1990 Peugeot 205 Mi16, a 1988 Peugeot 205 1.9, a VW Polo 1.0 for the Mrs, and the use of my Dads Range Rover when I want to tow something about. Apart from the Range Rover and the Polo, all of them are mine, and all of them are paid for.

The point I was trying to make, is that heavy traffic driving in a large town or city, which is what I mainly do, makes cars thirsty, simply because it is start-stop driving. Out of all the stuff mentioned above, even the 1.0 Polo only manages about 28mpg, as it is driven into Sheffield city centre every day of the week.
On a run down the motorway, the 205 will achieve 38mpg if driven gently.

Hi Ric,

Been away for a while so just been catching up on the TM gossip!

as u probably remember from riv run i own a lupo GTi aswell as the turbo. it is a pretty cool car! ive had it for about 2 years and not really bored of it yet.

it does feel quick (0-60 time is abit deceaving coz it wont do 60 in 2nd coz of the 6 spped box makes gears really short). it certainly feels quicker than the figures look.

it also gets quite abit of attention round town. ive had quite a few people come up to me and ask what the hell it was and i usually get a "wow, never seen one of those before!" (only 1000 or so in country!)

wouldnt really say it has any bad points, petrol consumption is pretty good! helps that it only weighs just under a ton (all doors, bonnet front wings etc aluminium) the boot is stupidly small but that doesnt really bother me!

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

106 gti is quicker though *happy* know that for a fact *wink*

My mates had a lupo since new, he's had a good share of problems with it mind...

Although he has played with it a fair bit but stuff has always been covered under warranty.

that is the only problem, if it does go wrong u have to take it back to a VW dealer, and in my experiences they arnt the most helpful bunch of people ive ever met! *happy*

I know there a bit 'badboyboost' (understatement i know) but, I got a saxo VTR probably the only standard one left in the country.

Never had any problems with it, if anything does go wrong then parts are cheap, 'cause theres so many of them about.

And if you take the parcel shelf out you can get a mini engine and 'box in the boot no problem.*happy*

Its the most economical car ive owned soo far, and its fairly quick for a small engine.

Put it like this, after driving a miniturbo theres not many cars at a reasonable price that are going to be any where near as fun to drive.*happy*
