Maybe a few tempory holes then ! Do you have an old scrap bonnet you could put holes in and swap at the track or maybe remove the headlight and try duct some air into the bay ! Or ever a few ducts under the front valence up into the engine at the side of the sump if that gets good air flow

I'll bin the second fan and put some holes in the inner wing or cut it out completely and put some alloy in. I don't really have room between the ic and rad, the ic duct is quite small as it is.

I can't use another bonnet I don't think as it's made specific to the car, the profile at the front is different on a minus.

Ducts are a good idea I'll see how I get on.

Gotta get it back on the road now as I realised yesterday the shitty med belt kit is pissing oil.

Could you make up something for the fans to mount too instead of the rad so its removable for the track? That way airs passing through alot quicker n helping cool the block too, the removable headlights a good shout too.. maybe they can be made to come out to reveal ducts for track/strip use.. less weight n one could be cool air intake for filter

They're just zip tied in anyway so they come out easy enough. They are so tightly squeezed in though.

I'm going to combine the oil catch can and the header tank get that up in the corner of the bulk head, then move the expansion tank to under the arch and go at the inner wing with a hole saw so there is some airflow. I'll eventually chop it out a stick an alloy panel in to give it some strength.

I've got the car in bits at the minute and not sure I'll get much time to test it before blyton. Be nice to get a go pro under there as suggested and get a good look.

I've already put a screw in the thermostat housing and fitted a new temperature sensor as I had damaged the plug a little on the one on it.

Not being helpful, just interested to know, do you have your fans on all the time with the front mount or are they thermostat controlled? How often are they on if on the 'stat.

This problem your having is something I've always wandered with front mounts in a mini, as people have said, the air can get in but quite difficult to get out.. My only justification would be enough people do it though and see results from it. The miglias and racecar types that run them all have flappy fronts and no inner wings so maybe the holes in your wings are the solution?

i think he is running an EWP80 with controller so i would imagine they are controlled by that. however if he is having issues technically they are always on as well *happy*

I'm also about to run a ewp80 and fan and have been wondering if the pump will flow too much volume to " get cooled" by the rad. It's fine to move a shed load of coolant/ water around but it does have to stay in the rad to let the rad do it's job, kinda why pulling the thermostat out of a mini and running without it is a bad idea .... water flows to fast to cool .... my2.8 cents inc gst { or vat to you lot}

thats complete balls about flowing to fast,

its an urburn mith brought about by turning pums too fast and them cavitating, and people removing the stat so there is not presure in the head ( to increase the boiling point).

Yea its an ewp80 and controller so the controller brings in the fans when it sees +3deg above set temperature.
Need to ask them actually as i just looked up this info but it doesn't really say much. My fans seem to pulse occasionally so would be nice to know the actual program for them.

You running the controller clbm4n? If not you can just run a stat with holes in and run the pump constant. As you say though it could be moving the coolant to fast!

I will be using the controller + 11 inch fan, side mount rad. I read somewhere on here that a std water pump moves something like 35 lts/min .... so maybe we are pushing too much ... just a thought

That's a good thread!

Thanks for that.

I'm sure the flow of the pump is up to the job after reading that.
