Interesting thought on the oil timing to the head, that isn't what I was thinking as most people run an external feed to the head ok the k heads,

I was thinking more in terms of slowing the pump down to save horsepower rather tan dumping it back to the sump via the relief valve.

Yes, external oil feed with the 16V head.

I acknowledge the thought re dumping excess pressure but I like the comfort of knowing that there will always be enough oil where it is needed. This build is unlikely to exceed 7K rpm so probably not too much excess pressure for very long - - it is a purely road car that it is intended for.
