Dave, yes the ports are smaller, 40mm at the manifold face instead of around 45 of the older heads, dunno about further in at the mo, my heads still with stuart at Vmax.

I'd love to add a 7 port head to my engine, unfortunately I haven't got that kind of money..............

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

All that power eventually ends up at the clutch. And nobody's solved that one yet.

Will upload some pictures of my clutch design shortly.
I'll be looking for one or two volunteers at some point aswell *wink* to assist in testing, but priority will be given to those who use their cars more often (for obvious reasons!!!)

mini13 - that's great news about the inlet ports. This was (i understand) the biggest problem with the heads previously; low port velocity due to ridiculously large diameters....

Just had a look at a pic of a sand casting of their 7 port, by doing a dodgey bit of measurement against my pc screen with a pair of calipers it looks like the port throat is about 31-32mm, not far of where is should be! on a 1380 I estimate around 250-270 ft sec gas speed??

Dave, So you've got a clutch design now! can't wait to see that!!

Cheers Iain - As i said though - I'll be taking my descision based off who does the most miles... A clutch that sits unused for 13 days in every 14 isn't a lot of testing!!!

Yes you mentioned that before i still dont know him lol anyway heres a mate from the mini forum on my project news from speaking to simon from morspeed.

"Is that simon from Morspeed? I was speakin to him at his shop to day and he has completly turned me towards the turbo route again. He was speaking of some fellas 210bhp turbo that was hittng 60 in 3.8 seconds and could piss all over his 400bhp 7 seires. 016_lol.gif 016_lol.gif Me want! me want! Sorry to say it Pandora, looks like your not going to be the only 7 Port Turbo around. Im going to follow those drawings I put up. Working it out, its gunna be cheaper to turbo it than fit twin webers, all the linkages, billet trumpets and four air filter socks. I dont think its gunna be as trick as yours as Im not going for fuel injection. Im just gunna make it plain and simple with the T2, MIRAGE manifold and HIFF 44 Su."

Looks like we're going to be in a very exclusive club though mate lol

no problem mate *smiley*

If it needs testing though i can use it daily for X amount of miles type thing. especially if its traffic friendly and then give it some beef round the track *smiley*

still probably more people do more miles than me mind.

Oh right, well i got the impression simon wasn't botherd about it i sent that email to him and it seem to say why bother using a 7 port turbo and injection but MBE should sort us out. Mind you i will be getting the 1293 turbo first and have the straight cut as well run them in and then get the 7 port with injection. Cant wait *happy*

Message for us poorer peeps...

In case you don't have money for a 7-port - don't worry! My recent EFI findings and work is showing the way forwards. Under boost, with proper EFI, there won't be much to separate 5 or 7 ports *wink* And you can quote me on that!

Not sure where we're going to hold it to be honest. Last time we held it at Mike's (MBE) but always open to offers. Good to try and make it central for most people.
I'll start a post soon to get the ball rolling, we usually aim for easter saturday before york
