I believe the bean tin ones are all the same so could be used fo brakes, but am preprared to be corrected *oh well*

IIRC the tin cans are in a different orientation on each (to space the reservoirs apart) and the brake one has an extra valve arrangement inside which the clutch doesn't have..

But that is from memory so I too stand to be corrected *oh well*

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

What am I on about. Don't buy his. I have an 'as new' clutch cylinder that you can have for the cost of a bacon butty *wink*

Brake & Clutch master cylinders are different as you state Rod.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

and have a different size bore. clutch are slightly larger at .75 brakes are .70

I'm not sure on the valve arrangement I know someone who used a clutch mc as the brake to get a .75 cylinder on a Z-Car, he wasn't a novice builder, I warned of the return valve but he said it was fine on strip down and inspection??? I wonder if they have changed on the new plastic stuff??? who knows. I would stick with a brake MC.

On a different note if your running a single circuit system, can you plumb in a yellow tag mc by joining the two outputs to a T so you get both fluid out puts into the system without splitting? Not advisable?

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.
VEMS + 12 PSI + Liquid Intercooler = Small Bore FUN!

I've had my head in the engine bay of a mini with twin baked bean tin master cylinders today. The brake cylinder is aroudf 1/2" - 1" taller than the clutch cylinder, so I'm guessing they are not interchangable.

Really? Mine look the same size.

Although, apparently the early 1275gt and cooper s had a larger brake master cylinder.

Got my brakes sorted now though, so thanks for the help chaps!!

I was looking at a 71 clubman so....

Now that you mention it, I'm fairly sure my 75 clubman had matching cylinders
