here my ten euros worth, drove a dog box in a circuit race preped aston db4 zagato, had to be firm with it but bloody good short shifts used clutch as it wasnt my car.up and down box no prob.my bike has a dog box as do most if not all bikes ,its a turbo 500 so on full accel it pays to use the clutch into 2nd just so you dont miss it and buzz the engine ,but apart from that no clutch needed up or down the box just blip it going down, and snap throttle going up ,and it snicks in .i think wat makes a dog box hard to shift is if theres a big gap between ratios ,and if you have a heavy flywheel .lighter the flywheel and closer the gears ,the quicker and easier it slips in ....er...yes.
Medusa + injection = too much torque for the dyno ..https://youtu.be/qg5o0_tJxYM |

I have pretty much decided against a dogbox, although it was only a consideration. I dont like the sound of all that swarf.

what tyres are you using for 1/4 mile ? a nice soft compound cut slick is prob what i would use they warm up lovely get nice and sticky to give u the grip but i never been up the 1/4 mile in me life so its prob wrong choice.....i am however sure that tyre choice can make a massive difference to your times, especially when launching.

Yes good lateral thinking, if you are really down to the bare bones trying to squeeze that little extra from the car tyre choice, tyre pressure, damper settings etc could make all the difference.

I use Yoko A032R tyres, I cant run slicks in my class although I will at some point. Additive is undetectable apparently, so should be fine. I have never tried it as it only softens a layer of rubber and so by sunday adternoon at Avon Park when you want to be running your best times, it would have all worn away.

Youre right Tom damper settings do make a big difference and what I have found to be best for me is contrary to popular belief. Damper settings are the only secret I keep about my car - I would tell anything else but dampers have given me a big gain. Paul I feel another thread coming.... On 15th May, 2009 TurboDave said:
