a LIL fishing village on the coast - Newcastle Upon Tyne

jon why not go for the regular 8 port head which have been tried and tested ? manifolds are pricey, but a couple of 45`s with superchargers on em is going to give mega bannanas it does look the biz mind, r u going to get a modded bonnet made, or are you going to cut a hole in one ?

wish i had the cash to be at the pioneering end of the game lol

8-port is tried and tested.

In nat-asp form.

You also need (assuming Arden 8-port) S-rods and a suitably machined crank, unique camshaft (a billet i believe) THEN there is the (ouch) cost of the head!

These BMW ones will always outflow them aswell.

why do you need the crank rods ect? i always thought they could be bolted to standard internals i think minispares did this to a standard MG lump and got over 100 brake

wolfie, when using the arden head, std A+ rods will hit some of the cam lobes, so you need to use s or steel rods

You also get 16 valves instead of 8 if i'm not completly wrong. Have been looking after one of these heads lika a mad man. I'm starting to think they don't exist in Sweden =(

Great job looking forward to here the sound from this machine!

Fearless Tom Fenton, Avon Park 2007 & 2008 class D winner

TM legend.

Rotherham South Yorkshire

Judging by all this I think I'll sleeve my turbo engine down to 1100cc and remove the blower so I can get in class B

As with all this machinery I'll have no f*in chance in Class D................!

For those that are unclear on the "hidden extras/differences" needed for an arden conversion you need,

S conrods or similar
a crank to go with the S rods
a cam to suit the different valve order of the Arden head(IEIEIEIE instead of (EIIEEIIE)
longer pushrods
longer headbolts
longer valves
10mm spark plugs?
4 branch exhaust manifold
inlet manifolds if running N/A?

Thats all I can think of off the top of my head, also nearly all this list is needed for a westlake head.

The aussie Elder 8 port has a standard valve order so you don't need a special cam, S rods and different crank, not sure about push rods, headbolts, valves though, also althogh reported to be a good head the elder has a funny routeing for the centre two exhaust ports.

The AKM 7 port uses nothing different from the A series head except 10mm plugs.

Marcel uses the Elder head - certainly seems like a superior option to me...

Nice to see something different!
A little apprehensive as how good it looks with a moded bonnet, (I am sure you will make a good job of it) but certainly looks good for Avon Park!

In the states they seem to be getting 250bhp out of a k1100 engine using a turbo.

In theory the longer A series stroke will give it more torque.

Reader, the owner of RB quoted me a bit more hp than that! you are just trying to lull us into a false sense of security, just like the mopar 426 hemi that claimed 300 bhp :). We may as well stay on the burger stand....

312 bhp for the 2v in race trim!

No is a thin flange S block......

Simon is speaking to a company called Simpson about the exhaust system, they do alot of bespoke cars systems. They have done jobs on mid engine grassers that he has had things to do with.

would it not be better for someone like carl to make one out of titanium? i assume its going to be a bit high revving so alot of heats going to be produced

Wolfie...A block out of titanium?

The inlet manifolds will have to be very short to fit the Jenvey throttle bodies on, maybe they will have to be longer but developement is the word...

Remember the plenum is going over the carbon fibre ram pipes.

The JE super lightweight piston and ITS hybrid turbo have also arrived.
