ah - you have a salsbury LSD aswell ???

Mine are consistent 2.3 which i'm pretty happy with given the lack of an LSD and a heavy weight.

Why do you not have an LSD Dave? It just seems a glaring ommision on a car as well developed as yours?

Watch me launch! I don't see the need. I set up my cornerweights every time before i go racing - and keep on top of them depending on what happens at the startlines on my first few runs (i usually find someone to 'spot' my car and identify which - if any - wheels break loose first, so i can add more weight to the 'loose' corner accordingly.
Most an LSD'll gain me is 0.1seconds (IMO) - and £500 for 0.1 seconds isn't value for money at the moment!

First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

Herefordshire

i have little to contribute as im yet to experiment

my 60fts are crap my quickest being 2.4

i have coil overs on the back so it should allow me to play a little easier, i have a set of soft springs lying around in the garage and im planning on getting a set of hard ones

my first attempt at playing was going to be hard rears set as low as possible as this would stop the weight shifting off the front wheels, with all 4 corners set as straight as possible

Surely setting the rear end a bit higher would shift a greater proportion of static weight onto the front wheels for better grip off the line.

Dynamic weight distribution is then governed by the spring rate at the back, thus the stiff springs preventing the back end from squatting as much, hence keeping the weight on the front wheels................

well i can tell you from avon 05 that a very high ride height shite shockers and no suspension set up what so ever doesnt work.

oh and setting your tracking with beech wind break poles doesnt work either*smiley*

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

Dave, if you are doing consistant 2.2 60ft then an LSD wont help you, Im seriously impressed by the way. An LSD is superb on the road for cornering as it pulls you tighter into the bend. Salisbury is fantastic around Milton Keynes roundabouts. If you knew there were no other cars on the road you would not slow down for roundabouts, its that good.
BUT.
With 10" wheels Salisbury is scary as it tram lines plus if one wheel breaks traction on a bump and you get bumpsteer on the other wheel you have to make a decision whether or not to correct it, if you make the wrong decision at 100mph+ then you are DEAD.
Quaife in my opinion is not even worth it as you cannot drive it on 1 wheel as you can a Salisbury.
I would say as you like to have a nice driveable road car I would stick with what youve got.
Paul

I seriously doubt it!

Consistent 2.3's Paul...

I've only ever done a 2.2 on slicks.
Never been to Pod either - I understand it's pretty sticky there sometimes - didn't Nik lose a shoe when he stepped onto the track or something?

I stand corrected Dave, but still impressed as you have heavy car, 10" wheels and lots of power.
What time did you do on slicks then?

I seriously doubt it!

2.2 60ft, same 1/8th as normal tyres, 0.2 slower to the 1/4 and 2mph off the trap.

I put it down to the extra resistance of running 'wide' tyres at low pressures (these were 'wrinkle wall' hoosiers).

Thats very interesting, I have theorised about the extra drag of slicks.
Gavin put Avon circuit slicks on his speedster and run 13.3. These are a harder and narrower tyre than Hoosier, but surely the Hoosier should be better.
Paul

I seriously doubt it!

2.281 is my best ever 60ft time (on road tyres) but usually they are around 2.4. Nothing changed last time, just more practice. I run an Tran-X LSD, with avo shocks, and minispares competion (red dot) doughnuts. My corner weights where spot on the day before avon. my shocks were all set on the middle postion, and I never got a chance to try expermenting them. My car avon last year was 560kgs

560kg that seems light I thought it looked heavier than that. You could lose another 100kg by losing that anti roll bar on the back.lol
It seems you guys are not losing out on 60 ft times in particular. You are losing out on grip in your gear changes though I bet.

the cage is thin wall t45, so looks heavier than it is. Since I've added the rear anti roll bar, and a few other bits it's now 572kgs. I've built the car as more of a track car than a drag racing car, but still very happy with it so far.

not a mini turbo (or even an a-series, but roughly the same weight ,mayb a touch lighter)

13 inch rims, 175/50/13's yoko A048R's
standard cheap and probably fucked dampers and cones.
~115 bananas and curly wurlys

average 60ft is 2.46-2.52
best 60ft to date is 2.3

i can definately get more out this setup, i wheelpin to much, origionally had 3 second 60ft's on the same setup, got it down with practice and no doubt itl go down further.

wit limited testing im achieveing the same 60ft's on my day-to-day 195/45/13's dunlop sp-something-or-others.

my next purchase for the car is new genuine doughnuts all round and new (slightly) uprated dampers and hi-los and a corner weight gauge.. wil report back after iv got a good few runs under my belt.

EDIT:- surface at crail (where i run) is unprepared smooth concrete(an old runway) covered in oil from old cars that run there. probably get more traction on an ice rink.

What tyre pressures are you guys running ?

Have you thought about the rake of the car for dragging?

Thinking of diffs, i've got a different idea for this.

Sorry dont want to give to much away.
