alex i have had some right wrestles with diesels
over the years.*frown*

one instance the brotherinlaw used to bring his shed of a diesel every year with a "multitude" of faults on with the dam head wraped up everytime as WELL! ....agh!

ever christmass for five years on the trot*frown*
ruined my chrimbos. untill a told him i have had enough!

that guy could wreck engines.....lol*laughing*

you get to know all the quirks on them.

Air leaks into diesel lines!

A common cause of poor starting diesels!

Everyone loves a bit of diesel power!

Black smoke all the way!

The only black smoke I like is from over fueling on boost :p

Its far more fun to go round some rudeboys sideways, and then guff a big cloud of black diesel smoke at them as you change gear......





Or maybe it is just me that enjoys that......

I also own said shity french oil burner, and had cold start problems due to incorrect valve clearences.
(Static compression low)

Just thought I'd add that for future reference for someone!

I had a job on a none starter in the morning and it turn out to be the fuel stop piston jamming up in the engine stop when cold it would start all year round but on a cold day it would turn over and over then start with blue smoke
