Worst one was when I replaced the wheel on my Grandads trailer and fergot to do the nuts up. Two miles down the road, the wheel shot off and very almost took a few cars out. It caused a traffic jam, nightmare!

On that note, Alex's mums horse box ramp came down while they were driving (luckily with no horses in). It's fooking heavy, if someone had been too close! *indifferent*

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Ive used bolts that were too long to bolt the engine mount to the bell housing. One of the bolts went through one of the holes in the flywheel and locked it in position so that the engine wouldnt turn over when i put it in the car, when i took my "siezed" engine out of the car it started to turn over again when i removed the wok, haha!

I have done that the first time i ever swapped an engine it also happened to be the first time i had ever done anything mechanical. But the really bad thing is that i forced it to turn over and even got the engine running and was greeted by a loud knocking noise. i suppose that what happens when you dont know what you are doing *tongue*

i think my all time biggest mistake ever has got to be whilst doing a 4 wheel alignment check on a shogun, id forgot to put it in park. and guess what whilst the said vehicle was about 5 ft up in the air on a ramp it rolled off the turn tables, rolled off the ramp, landed on the 4 wheel alignment computer, back end of car hit a beam on the ceiling smashing the the lights and the roof of the car, the towbar of the car hooked on the cross bit of the ramp and tugged the ramp and the ramp fell to pieces.
quote]

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA that must of been expensive, but the funniest thing ive ever read

hhahahhaha just re read it

hmm let me think

2 weeks running i forgot to tighten up my wheels, the second time i was nipping in to town, jumping the car over some little bumps in excess of the speed limit, when i got into town i noticed a creaking, so i left it at my mums, finished work early to get a wheel bearing. Then whilst talking to my neighbour and stepdad whilst loosening the wheel i noticed it wasnt tight at all!! oops that would be loose wheel nuts then

or there was the time i dropped a washer down the back of my engine bay that fell in through the fuel pump hole

or when i forgot to turn on the fuel pump at retro cars!!

non miniwise, i put a new piston in my suzuki x1 and it wouldnt start, but it would whistle. Some how a washer had got under the head gasket

oh theres so many

In order to diagnose an occasional power loss on me mini i replaced cap, rotor, leads, plugs, coil, ign module, new fuel pressure regulator diaphram, fitted larger fuel return, new fuel pump. Problem still persisted until i replaced pre pump fuel filters with £2 plastic in line jobbies!!! Handy having all the spare parts now mind*wink*

Not so long ago i gave my bike a wash and found it would not restart afterwards, no fuel pump cutting in. So thought water had found its way to the alarm/imobiliser, after stripping all the rear end panels off to gain access to said alarm/imobiliser i found it bone dry. Digged out manual and reset code (numerous times) to no avail. Whilst scratching head i noticed i had flicked the kill switch while washing it!!!

sitting there loking at mini with back end jacked up thinking hmm ,.......
wonder how true the wheel is up and down ....
..spin wheel and place hand lightly on top..( top is moving towards front of car) ...

it promptly snagged the palm of my hand ,and shoots middle and next finger through that little gap between the tyre and the sharp edged subframe bolt bit

....didnt really want to look ...

hand has full half of middle finger nail peeled off along with chunk off side of finger ,and quarter of next fingers nail up in air as well blood and a nice mix of grit ,and mud in the cuts and nail bed ...

went indoors

got the kettle boiling and put in some tcp ,then gouged away all the grit and so on ,and dunked in hot water and tcp for a while ..

.bandaged it all up and sat down for a sweat .

..two weeks later ,..

.mini jacked up

......,thought wonder how true wheel is ...

.ill be really carefull this time ...
...................

span wheel ,

oooops

this time i really didnt want to look.

still

i got a free tattoo where the dirt is embedded under the scar ,,,so alls well that ends well eh !!!

Worst mistake has to be when i was drilling some holes for rivets to rivet on my wheel arches without noticing my hand was where i was drilling. Went straight through my hand, but the worst bit was putting the drill in reverse and taking it back out!!! I had only just got my mini at the time and was only 15 and had very little mechanical knowledge!!!!

Thankfully it was only a 3.3mm drill i was using!

OOOH mate, I know what that felt like, I did the same but did actualy go right the way through the fleshy bit in one side out the other, missing the bone on my left index finger tip. It wasn't right for months and my finger prints are now buggered*tongue* not that that should matter*indifferent*

Hi,
Mine was on my newly built mini,I thought id tightened the front wheel up, i live in a village and the whole street had come to see the 1430 run up the road.heard this clunking noise thought nothing of it untill i looked out the window to see my the streets expressions and a wheel bouncing down the road, gravity soon overtook and plonked me onto the bottom ball pin which ground down lovely.Oh they still remember it 25 years later.
