hello all, some of you will know me from miniclassic and lsmoc forums, also my turbo van is in this months rolling road shoot out in Miniworld

I had the same problem. it was the filter in the fuel tank. i cut the tank open, removed the filter and it worked a lot better.

then i changed the needle in the carb as it was too lean and that also improved the power in third and forth gear.

now i'm running a T2 with some help from Turbo Dave

I had to do some tank work aswell about a month ago. Bloody little filter!

Even so, mine didn't have these symptons. It merely missed at high boost and high rpm. Fortunately I lifted the hammer and took it easilly until i found what the problem was.

Glad i could help with the T2 conversion - What unit did you use in the end? How did you do the downpipe, actuator mount and oil return? *wink*

Cool - Glad it was sorted - I didn't think that the earth would have made the difference mind!
You say that the coil was also chaged? What was on it before? (only reason i'm asking is so we all know for the future *wink*)

As regards the 'zorst blowing, are you still using the std metty clamp with the 2" downpipe? This needs modding, as was designed to work with a 1 3/4" bore downpipe, not a 2" one. I also weld the heads of the bolts into one of the clamps - this makes life 1000 times easier....

i was running a lucas gold coil which didnt seem any good with the standard setup as its for a points based system. now just got a standard metty electronic coil

yeah i was really suprised that it caused those problems but ive just been and done 50miles and its spot on. idles better than ever since ive changed the coil.

Oops forgot to mod the clamp. Ill do that this weekend i hope if i get chance. ive already welded the bolts in and find this easier.

just so good to have it back on the road, runs so well. love the torque and just been able to cruise about with no fuss

Lots of tinkering mate!

Also make sure the carb is ship shape, the seals go hard even over a short period. Ill let you know as im just building up a new engine at the mo with some of the same gear!

Its just a case of going through everything with a fine toothcomb. Mine ran fine in the metro when i took it out but when put in the mini some months later it didnt like it!

Also check the choke isnt sticking open on the heatshield!! *smiley*

I am trying to get my head round y this should be a problem only when on the power ,,,

- Inadequate spark ?
- Electronic Ig problems

Now I am wondering if this is linked to my dancing about rev counter as well

Anyone ?

have you checked the coil pack on the dizzy via TD's advice?

Or even just try another one. *smiley*

Grind it!!!

Basically make it slightly bigger where it goes round the exhaust otherwise it doesnt close properly. It makes sense when you get the clamp and downpipe together off the car!

Also it fits one way up, you'll see what i mean, do a trial fit off the car first to make sure, its a pain to keep trying it when everythings in!

Once thats done and the bolt heads are welded to one half its easy to fit. Just put a trolley jack underneath to support and push it up to the flange.

*smiley*
