Certainly does, think the steering wheel splines are the same as Rover 200 etc. rather than Mini though.

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

Got to say after seeing you're car at Combe I am impressed by what you achieved with a £10 gun.

I haven't done much recently as I was at Combe on Saturday, and spend most of today in casualty (top tip do not fill your ear with petrol, it will hurt more than you can imagine & it doesn't remove the excess wax either) but here are some pics of what I managed in the few hours I did spend on the car:

Above is a wooden dolly I built to move the shell around using the wood from the frame painting jig (either good recycling or me being tight) and I've got to say it's been a god send.

Test fitted the seats to see how much space I had for switch gear.

I also had a play with positioning the gear shift, hand brake & steering wheel.

Finally I introduced my pedal box to my drill press.

I do hope you've not excessively lighted the brake pedal!!!!!

I once drove a kit car that a friend of mine had bought only to have the brake pedal snap due to having been excessively modified ..... probably the scariest few seconds of my life. Luckly it wasn't on track and there was a place to point it .... still makes me shudder when I think about that and it was 10 years ago!

How are you getting on with the column? I found that the dash rail has to go to get the column where I want it, was wondering what your found.

There's enough metal left in the pedals. although I'm thinking about removing the front half of the pedal box as it won't do anything after the dash rail is removed & it's questionable if it does anything with the dash rail in place.

I found the steering column slightly too long, if you look at my right elbow it'll give you an idea just how much I have to bend my arms. The dash rail doesn't foul the column but it will be coming out all the same as it doesn't do anything.

Rob, you'll be using a dash bar so the dash rail can come out but it does help tie the two A pilars together in a shunt.

You want bent arms in a race car so that you have max control and max ability to generate torque on the column should you need two ..... arms are stronger in that movement than shoulders!!!!!

I'd never get in that car to drive it. Lightening the clutch pedal, OK, brakes NO WAY. Especially not as much as that one.

I've lightend both my pedals and have no problems, but I don't have quite as many holes as yours Rob. Your seating position looks very similar to mine. I removed all the pedal box in front of the pedals as my column is attched to the cage.

Rob, had a bit of a look through my car set up notes and there is a comment about the forearm to upper arm angle being 90deg +/-5 as an ideal.

I still think that it's a bit drastic on the lightening mate. There are two things you don't want to fail on you in a car, brakes and steering.

Hum, I getting worried about the pedals now, I suppose I could put them on the bay and get another set.

I reckon 90 degrees is too much bend in my arms, thinking about 120 to 130.

A bit more progress,

I got the subframe built up & test fitted, only to discover that the shock bracket, that I borrowed from Roger, fouled on the brace bars I made so it looks like I've got to make another set :(

Also I'm not happy with the angle of the shock, I'm wandering if the lower mount needs to be moved further out.

I've changed my mind about the brake pedals and I'm looking at a totally different option.

that cage looks really good in red, i think you may have been a bit quick off the mark painting it though as mine has proven a right PITA to get in.

the tubes are mostly a lot longer than they need to be aswell.

I painted the cage first as there are some parts that won't be paintable once the cage is in. Not looking forward to fitting mine and all I have to do is make the tea whilst Fat Stig fits it.

A couple more bits arrived in the post so I'm happy

The tank is a bit bigger than I need for Hill Climbing & Sprinting, but I want to be able to do the odd track day as well with out running out of fuel halfway round. I reckon I'm going to have to run a swirl pot as well as the tank is so flat I'm likely to get fuel moving around when cornering.

Not bad for a shop damaged dash (got it half price) it was a pig to fit mind, and will need further tweaking to fit after the cage is in.

I also got a set of perspex windows, but they didn't photograph very well.

I know spax know a damn site more than me with suspension geometry...but does it look as though the top of the shock needs moving in abit so the shock is more vertical?
