well after a long while of semingly getting nothing done, im having a good day on the car so far i have.

drilled the c pillars for a bit of lightweighting
welded in some tubes to strengthen the front subframe
welded on some tabs for holding the front end on
and sorted a few more general bits out.

im just going to roll the car over to finish the underneth and then im going to have a look at fitting the a panels!

im going to watch the miglias tommorrow, im taking a tape measure with me! *tongue* hopefully i will be able to get some really good ideas on the cage so i can get that started during the week.

but im pissed off cos my tube notcher still hasnt arrived!

Good stuff!

I've had a bumper week too, mostly little things that should be easy but go wrong.... like....

Finished the exhaust,
made copper gaskets for turbo/exhaust/wastegate,
Fitted engine steadys,
fitted driveshafts,
fitted rack limiters,
trimmed down fan to clear S damper,
changed waterpump,
counterbored plugs & striped & cleaned head,
Bolted head down and built up & fitted roller rockers,
Modded Rocker cover to clear 11 studs & added breater tubes.
Bought gearkit, (minispares SC kit)

fixed wipers on road car twice.... they turn off now! & Traced vauge steering to one loose driveshaft nut and a shagged steering rack (which is only 2 years old!)

i had a loose drive shaft nut on my everyday car aswell. spooky!

im at a point now of thinking weather to go turbo or not. seems like there is a really good drag racing scene on here that i want in on!

im just too indecisive about what i want.

Its the wanky roads round here.... especially out my way...

I still reckon a blower would be good, no messing about with exhaust manifolds, and an eaton is only about 100 quid, plus you could always go turbo later on when funds permit....

Have you plugged your block yet or is that still waiting to be done?

its just i am soon to be doing the conversion and i was wondering how deep the plugs need to go? is it just really a matter of say 20mm just so as that it block it and doesn't let any of the fluid etc etc out of it or is there a certain depth that they need to go into the block for what ever reason?

Cheers for any info, James.

Liking your work man.

Not seen bracing from the tower to subframe before. Is it tube or bar you used.?

Also is it for strength of roll stiffness?

the bulkhaed is going to be a bit empty with the K! i planned it when i was thinking of using a 5 port with a weber!

si its tube i have used, and i did it for strength. its going to see a lot of track use so want to keep everything strong yet light!

bit of progress today, i have one side of the front fitted properly.

i also managed to punch a hole in my nail with the jigsaw when cutting some metal!

A tip with those mirrors is to get them set where you want them and then use an epoxy resin to bond them in place. If you don't they will keep moving. I had to do this on my kit car as it would litterly be loose in a mile!!!

They do suit the car well though.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...
