to do list is getting smaller anyhow

finish/tidy up wiring/wire up flip front 9any ideas?)
replace rose joint spacers on bottom arms
fit alloy skins and poly windows to doors
add nylocs to important places (more for peace of mind other than anything else)
fit door/dash bars and re-mount steering column lower
fit screen
re-do seat mounts
tracking (need peoples advice on front geometry with a LSD...?)
fit harnesses

Nice one Joey! I like the use of a proper fuse box. Where did you order all of your wiring stuff?

got the fuse box of iains mig when he broke it, saved me alot of time and head scratching once i mapped it out in my head,

still decided to use the mini flasher relay for the lights though and used the one off the board for the horns air compressor (fook theyre loud!), the rest was ordered from vwp.

looking back now, i reckon i could quite happily make up a basic carb race car loom for under £200

I'm debating weather or not to get a new loom to start with when doing mine. There will be alot of mods so I'm reluctant to spend 200 lids on a loom only to throw half of it away

id get a decent used one to butcher

unwrap it, lay it all out on the floor and just strip off the unnecessary stuff

then either use that, or make up a new loom to measure using it as a template

in my hbol, i found the correct diagram for th loom i had (1988 onward carb) and then spent an hour writing on the page what everything was (the numbers do my head in)

it made it so much easier to reference and find stuff

This is looks great Joey, Just wondering where you got your fuel tank from, it looks a descent size and from this angle looks like you should have no issues with clearence for a petrol pump nozzel when filling up.

its a custom made job dan, copied from a tank i bought from a written off rally car years ago

it only cost £100 too, its basically just one sheet of ally bent around to for the main boddy, with baffles and end plates welded on, the most expensive bits were the tubes and filler neck

1380 rich, this is all your fault, it was happy sitting there until i saw your thread lol, was down the garage pretty much the very next day haha

well, wired in the headlights/indicators on Saturday, gonna use these instead onf a bulky trailer socket:

Just waiting for them to turn up in the post and thenall the lights will be fully working

So all it *needs* to be road legal now is doors and a windscreen

The doors are in the midst of having ally skins put on, im having a bit of trouble as the drivers side skin seems a little tall, but as Im putting poly windows in, im not over fussed if its an extra 10mm high, no one will ever notice

then its suspension settings needs roughing out

then can finally start road tests and gettinbg the webers jetting spot on

then will convert to megajolt...

i wish mr fenton would hurry up with his car, i dont want to have taken all this time only to be TM's 2nd longest build lol!

Do you still want/need some streetfighter doors joey i ask as i have some good frames & a a pair of alloy skins, i've made them before!!!

if your interested let me know if youd want to keep your window winders or i'll cut the door bare & you can put polycarb windows in then, i dont know if you come over to the uk or you'd want them posting, i dont know what postage is but let me know it takes me a week in my spare time to make them, i'd just make sure they are as straight as possible& undercoat them in etch primer then high build primer

no worries bud, thought i'd offer as you've confirmed a few things about my morespeed head as did the new chap kal!

i'll have to do these doors & put them by then LOL

ally skins are a bit of an arse, but makes a worthwile differance, use lots of the glue/ mastic whre you fold the skin over the door frame as the steel n alloy aren'nt the best of friends together as they rot each other out!

aslong as there is plenty of paint or mastic on both the door frame & skin you'll be ok!!!

Bit more progress

finished skinning the freshly repaired door frames with the alloy panels, looks really well (miles better than i thought they would turn out), also finally got a perfect mil spec amphenol 7 pin plug for the flip front lights, been putting that off for ages hoping something would turn up as didnt really fancy the trailer plug set up.

So will wire that tomorrow, and take some pics

ordered some stainless 1/4 UNF csk screws for the door hinges just now, so hopefully have them on for trial fitting early next week. Will have to figure out how to fit the poly windows and lighten a bit further now!

off to Tenerife diving again for 2 weeks this thurs though so my dreadfully slow progress can continue then lol, shame as im experiencing a surge in enthusiasm at the moment, hopefully will still be there when i get back

Do you have an MSA log book for this car ?
I only ask as I am prepping a Starlet for tarmac rallying and a lot of safety things have changed / been upgraded
Any car needing a new log book has to comply with the new regs
Cages are of a larger diameter tube , Seats have to be FIA approved and 'in date' , as do harness etc . It can be bloody expensive for people who have taken a while to complete their builds !!

For comparison, I just weighed a bare steel door with hinges and a catch at 10.4KG
