I know you are right regarding mortgage, but have an urge to have something daft whilst I can still afford it before anything daft like marriage or kids come along........

As long as you accept that you WILL lose some money then it's a great idea. Ben had an elise for 4 years then sold it when Bev got up the duff. If I was bying a kit car I'd get a full bodied one like a Fisher http://www.fishersportscars.co.uk/ Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

Talking of fisher, I have a mate who has one in my garage, a fury spider with a fireblade engine. It has never turned a wheel and cost him about £3k as an unfinished project. He might sell it unfinished again soon. 0-100 in 8 secs Bugger off, I'm getting there. |

I have a 10 month old, and I'm just beginning to find time (and energy) to venture into the garage again. Edited by Neil8p on 28th Aug, 2007. |

I have resigned myself to the fact that I can NEVER afford to buy a house and if I could it would not be in Northern Ireland! So I am doing a Tom; I start my job in October and I will be spending liberal amounts of money on the Mini and my other automotive projects (toys). On 7th Nov, 2008 Nic said:

What a nice position to be in To be honest it really is quite lucky, anyone that knows me knows that anything I've done in life has been financed myself, including going to university and buying anything I currently have, so I've never really had money to spare, one of the reasons my Turbo mini build has dragged on so long. However I signed up for a saving scheme through work that takes an amount of of your wages every month for three years, at the commencement of this plan you get a fixed "buy back" price which is the share price of the firm at that time. At the end of the three years, you can either draw out the money you have saved, or you can choose to use the money to buy company shares at the price that was fixed at the start. So if the shares have gone down, you get your cash back. If they have gone up, you buy the shares at the lower price, then sell them at whatever the current price is, jobs a goodun, you have made a profit. As some of you know I work for Corus which was taken over by Tata (an Indian firm). Because of this, Corus no longer has a share price as its part of Tata, so what they did was to fix the price I can sell the shares for, at the price Tata paid to buy the company. In simple terms this means I have been bloody lucky and tripled my savings. This is the reason really that I'm going to spend out on a toy, its as near as I'll ever get to free money!!

I personally reckon the best form of contraception is to call yourself Nic Rizzawhatchamacallit. Seems that if you do this there is no chance of getting a lady pregnant.
