I am glad I asked about the core plugs--I would have done that wrong. Thanks!

No Joey you are not going blind or mental, they are all the same length. Currently that cover is just sitting there to keep the dirt out. My plan is to get a cheap alloy rocker cover, maybe off an MG Metro or something.

Put the engine in the car so that I could start fabricating the header and to figure out which turbo to go with.

I like the flat black against the red!

I am down to the turbo selection, I have been reading old posts for a while now and I think I have settled on the Garrett GT2052.

The engine is 1098, +.020 bore, Max Rpm is 6000. I am more interested in quick launches, not to interested in high speed. I have not settled on the boost, so I was looking for a compressor that would allow me to increase the psi and still work well.

Any opinions or suggestions are welcome!

With respect, I think your air flow calcs are incorrect.

For a 1098 at 6000 rpm on 14.7 psi boost with a good intercooler, I get 13.7 lb/min and 132 hp.

Thanks Paul! I somehow slightly shifted the picture behind the dots -- I corrected it and added my math. I put the blue/green dot at your 13.7 number. If that is the airflow, this turbo is starting to look too big -- I may have to go to the GT1548.

You mind looking at my calculations to help me find my mistake? Thanks.

Your calcs do not appear to take account of the density change due to temperature.

This is how I do it:

You could use the Gt1548 which is a modern equivalent of the old T2 or you could consider a GT1752 from a Saab.

Thanks Paul -- I will have to study that other thread. I did not think you had to take in account of the density change if you were sucking in ambient air, now if you were sucking in engine compartment air then there would be a clear density change.

Found a new plunger stop nut for the clutch.

Started taking apart the rear radius arms. They are in rough shape.

It's the density change due to temperature rise through the turbo and then back down agian through the intercooler rather than changes in intake temperature. You need to work out the density of the charge as it goes into the cylinder.

Was originally hydro, but I am going to try to convert it to a dry setup. I know the subframes are different but the hydro components are in rough shape. *oh well*

I would love to hear from people that have experience with this conversion.

Alright boys, bit the bullet and ordered the turbo. I settled on the Garrett GT1548 - 466755 - 3.

Sorry guys I am switching projects for a bit. I figure I will just keep this post going with my other project.

Some may know that I have a TR6 with a 5.0 liter in it. This was my first project and have been driving it for almost 14 years now.

After many miles and plenty of abuse, I finally managed to spin a bearing so the engine must come out.

The was a picture before I started tearing it apart.

I am committed now.

It is official, I need a bigger garage. I got the engine out just as it started to rain, so I panicked and shoved everything in the garage. I am amazed it all fit.

Thanks Potter!

I got the engine completely torn down. Overall it looked pretty good, just worn out. Then I found what was making the noise and causing my oil pressure problems -- a CAM BEARING! It clearly got starved of oil at one time. I have never seen a cam bearing go bad before.

The bores did not look that bad, we will see if I can get away with just a hone.

Jeeze.. fun...

I had a TR for 10 years and even with the standard 2.5L six it was, to say the least --- Hairy.... I cant imagine what thats like if you take it hard into a corner!! The old saying was that a TR is the fastest way into the woods..

Are you running the standard rear end on that> If so hows the Triumph twitch??

heres my old TR.. Lives somewhere in Holland now.
