i have 3-4 scars on my left eye from exactly this. sparks get in your eye and its uncomforatable. if you dont notice them stragiht away (and trust me some you dont) then you will when you try to sleep that night!

luckily for me none hae been on my pupil so my eyes are just as bad as they have always been!

and i ALWAYS wear googles!!! just normal "glasses" type ones though and i can fully reccomend full on goggles! (althought i still had a peice find its way through those last week!)

an evening in the hospital a+e with a 2" needle in your eye flicking out dirt is not fun. not to mention being tired the next day and generally having a sore eye that justs wants to water alot. or maybe i was crying...

This is a bit neanderthol but if you pull the bolt out as far as you can you should be able to twist it out past the down pipe the rubber should give just enough to allow you to do this.

Stand up lie down, stand up lie down, still gets to me how many times I miss out steps on removing a mini engine, and no matter how many time I tell myself the speedo cable always catches me out *oh well* dont fret your not the first and you wont be the last to be broken by a mini. Its the most incideous form of torture ever invented

I tried this but the bolt doesnt clear the first fork part let alone the second. So I cant twist it out. But will buy some some goggles and an angle grinder after work. Dish out some fury!

Thanks all for your comments! Hopefully have the engine out tonight.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...
