i hope you dont think opend this topic to get at your company or your wheels carl, as far as it goes i recognise the quality of your products and that they are priced very well, i know that some of your products will no doubt end up on my mini when it gets to that stage. i didnt open this up and compare/reference it to yours or anything like that, i literally just wanted to show off my wheels.

*wink*

Rick, i don't think for one minute you were having a dig,

but i thought i'd take the opertunity to compare the two pricing structures,

i had been told previously that my13" wheels were too cheap for the work that goes into producing them, i'm trying to make a living , not a killing lol.

The approx £400 figure was just an based on past prices allowing for plus vat increases etc. etc.... This price was quoted to the buyer (for current wider wheels) so he was not shocked if he tried to purchase two more - although they are wider now.

I believe the 2x 8"j and 2x 10" j set is approximately £1100 or 1200 plus or including v.a.t. was some time ago

- I recall they were roughly twice as much as the compomotive made to order cast wheels which were in excess of £650 per set - which makes me think they must be more than £1200 a set....

It was only given as a rough guide price..

Not sure as I was asked to check for a friend a while back - and from memory was told the 8" J (now front) was more expensive than the 10J rear" at the time.

Most Jedi parts are made in house but they do have exturnal engineers involved with the championship that make certain parts using f1 grade materials - they also make famous motor sports parts etc...

Obviously all parts are not priced up to match mini prices - ever looked at porsche parts.

A jedi is not a mini! - you guys should get out more Jedi is dirt cheap (for controlled circuit racing) compared to more televised series - Jedi is very fair. some prices would make your eyes water - minis are very good value for money.

If you can make race wheels cheaper than people may buy them - as long as they meet relevant regulations. I fear the rich boys will always go with what is

I'm a mini fan (my freind has a collection of basic minis) - I'm no expect! but I was offered a part complete z car busa conversion and stumbled on this site recently.

The owner of the Z car project had looked into Jedi wheels a while ago talking to some Jedi driver from down South some where-

I know for a fact Jedi is an amazing bit of kit - as posted on some other mini forum by some other mini owner
(may be you know him?)

THE MAIN THING IS RICK GOT A GOOD DEAL AND THE WHEELS LOOK GREAT

SO DEFENDING HIM - WHY PISS ON HIS BOMB FIRE!

- the wheels are expensive (FACT) I'm under the impression he was given a ROUGH IDEA of the what the wheels cost based on an old figure from memory -based on current spec IT WAS NOT BULL SHIT.

RICK mention £350 or £400 a wheel so it all sounded a bit vague. I beleive what ever information was passed on was possibly lost in translation some where and probably not what was origianally said.

Posting JEDI this and that based on some second hand set of wheels from a private sale that were not sold by the orignal owner is hardly worth saying people are full of shit
(dragging the Jedi Championship name into it)

Maybe there is just some wheel envy or egos on here - I'm just gald Ricks happy "I'm just maintaining ying and yang"

PEACE

Carl your bits of kit look pretty mental - so do not think this is an arguement, I'm on all sides (just no need to be so pickey)

vegard - sturring are we?

I see my girl friend has turned the spell check off - my spelling is bad.

I did not mean pikey ( I would not call fast carl that) but yes that is possibley a general term used when people moan about the cost of racing or specialised parts.

I get the impression from an f3 guy I know that (circuit racing) is usually all about money and a lot of snobbery factor creaps in and cost are explained with magical reasons even if the truth is....

they are non specific parts or not that special and it's just a marketing ploy or some one is making a massive mark up or the figures quoted via chinese whispers are not correct... That's business.

Now how about z cars are they a good conversion kit? It looks like a lot of work to drop a bike engine in? do people then go for light weight pannels etc.. and is the sva or legal bit an issue?

I never did - YOU requoted me using pikey as pickey.*tongue*

-Carl was Picking up on the detail in threads and extracting ie the max figure to quote per wheel, then the min figure to show price drop on my quote (picky). Even though I said I'm sure they are approximately twice the price of compo's? made to order - at £650+ ish thats equals 1300+ plus so the ball park figures quoted are approximately right and were not meant to be exact.

CARL-obvioulsy has lots of skills (his cars look quite mad max) and I would not try to put him down -I do not even want to go there - I did not start out to argue with you guys, was trying to keep it real...

When people use nasty words it offend and causes reactions - the internet is vast so lots of people read your posts.

I was just defending Ricks purchase and the Jedi championship as I have a friend who is at the track at the same time as them some times on test days and...

Anyway I'm done - it will keep going round in circles if people keep starting new Picky bits- I'm a posative person and want the best for every one so try to be nice to each other.

Jedi are really really fast and they do things very cost effective compared to other well known series of less performance - which is quite admirable in this day and age, so was defending them too as the figures qouted via the purchaser and by me via a conversation I had with someone are most likely muddled up too - but some where near.

I love you all - nice cars ( hope to build one one day soon) xx Have fun in the sun when it eventually comes out to play

Does it really matter Anon, really does it?...

All Carl said that was 400 pounds for what the specification of the Jedi wheels are is too much. given the production costs.

Correct me if i`m wrong.

Don`t think anyone was pissing on anyone's bomb fire.....

Rick, for whats its worth buddy, when i first saw the pictures of the wheel i was a little wary.

but really, after seeing the image a few times, i really like them, the idea of having the outer rim powder coated as opposed to the center is different and i think works well.

Also.. ill add. You jammy bastard!

I think Anon needs to get the hang of the TM banter!

not sure if they would clear the suspension (without spacers) with the offset on them, have they been trial fitted to a mini? could be interested if they fit

around 120mm from the back of the centre in the middle to the edge of the inner rim, what offsets that on a 13x6? :)
