Rainhill, Merseyside.

I think retro fitting a mini MPI radiator, somehow, might be the best option. IMO. :/

I don't want to fit a front rad as I have a clubman. There's space for it but would mean moving the number plate and drilling holes to get air in there.

Think if I do go this route I'd just get the fan on its own and the fitting kit.
I've got a fan switch in the bottom of the rad that comes on at 92 degrees and off at 82 degrees. And a manual switch on the dash.

Jonny did the fan come on while you where moving at speed? Say 30mph+

Yea, but the reason it wouldn't cool at speed is because of the air flow. It wasn't ideal where I had the rad. If the rad is sealed against the wing so the air has no choice to go through it, it would definitely work. In traffic it was more than enough to cool it.

Ok great. I'll give it a go.
Did it make a noticeable difference in how the engine performed without the mechanical fan vs with mechanical fan?

No idea. Engine was in a car that weighed 170kg more before.

Always had electric in the minus.

Thanks Mark. It sounds like that fan is designed to work with the mechanical fan.
The mini spares one sounds like it's designed to do away with the mechanical fan.

I fitted an MPI rad, with small fan infront of it. Just about keeps things cool, but temps can rise if the flow of air is blocked by the car in front. I noticed the car ran much hotter without the oil cooler this year, so refitted one.

Edit: the wiring has been tidied since this photo!
