had the copper chopper over the flat for 3 hours last night in bristol, couldnt sleep, the city centre is deadly quiet and there are fuck loads of police riot vans on patrol! ive already experienced two riots in the past few months! and they took out the tescos again :)

At least I can agree with Cameron on one thing that the thugs need to be shown little tolerance. At the same time, the Police shouldn't be permitted to use plastic bullets that will end in further disaster. Water cannons, fine.

I think the peaceful protesters probably have a cause against the Police with the doubts cast over the circumstances of the Duggan shooting, their beating of the 16 year-old girl that sparked the riots (really? what's a thrown rock going to do to Police wearing riot gear), and the lack of prosecutions for the 100s of deaths in police cells in the Metropolitan area over the last decade.

Student protests, strikes, trade unions marches and now riots -- civil unrest is on the rise. Oh and Obama blames Europe for the world's financial crisis, what a moron.

Whatever the fuck happened to this country anyway. We used to be a very wealthy powerful country, and police were proper police, and could beat the crap out of you even if you looked at them funny. Now kids are throwing house bricks at them and police are only allowed to stand there and take it. The 5-0 need to be given thier discretion back to them, itd do this place a world of good.

This is not a riot the majority of these "people" have no agenda and no desire to work at all. They are just there for mindless violence and to be theives.

It seems more and more embarrasing to call yourself british nowadays, i feel sorry for people who have served to defend this country.

If true am glad a 16 year old girl got a slap for throwing rocks at police, the police are people as well are they not? they have a right to be safe regardless of what there wearing do they not? i don't expect to have a rock thrown at me in my workplace why should a copper.
Show me why there should be prosecutions of police for deaths in cells, prove that they were caused by police.

If you wave a gun at armed police your going to be shot!!! Its far from rocket science. Why would anyone think that they wouldn't be thought of as a serious threat? If you have the balls to wave a gun at the police, what is to tell you wouldn't actually use it on any of the general public? Take them down before they do whether they will or not!! and thats what happened.

Why is everyone looking to explain the cause as in response to that shooting, unemployment, poverty. BOLLOX! They are doing it because they can, and no one is 'seen' to be doing anything to stop them, which a sytematic failure of the criminal justice system whereby you cannot arrest anyone for a crime they have not yet commited. Basically, you have to stand back and watch the little shits smash everything up, and then clear up the mess afterwards. AND, if you as a victim try and defend your property, yopu then become the criminal!!!

Oh, and your human rights should automatically be reduced the basic minimum when you have commited a crime and convicted. Those basic rights are, a right to life, a right to have a piss or shite, and a right to sustenance.

We all seem to be in general agreement and I dont think we are a unrepresentative section of the community so why the hell are the authorities pussyfooting around ?.

Do all those PC people really believe that they hold the majority view ?.

The problem in that direction is that we are the silent majority and only those who push themselves forward, with their vociferous and unrepresentative views actually get heard.

I have first hand experience of this sort of thing and I quickly realised that to get anywhere where you have a chance of influencing anything you HAVE to compromise your principles or you get nowhere. I refused to compromise and was excluded very quickly.

Sadly, I believe that we need an uprising of the majority to change this system, and thats never going to happen.

I lived near Brixton just after the 1981 riots and felt fear every day I passed through there on the way to central London. I moved after that to "safer" north London and got threatened one night with a knife after bumping into a youth leaving a greengrocers store.

Guess I've got Stockholm syndrome or something. :/
