No cheesy show cages in here.

It's foam i think, it's not in there now. He took me for a spin in it the other week. He's obsessed with saving weight, FG bonnet on, FG bootlid and plexi windows to fit, and he's even drilled his rear bumper to reduce drag. I like his door handle idea though. Last time he took it to santa pod it was running dead 14s.

It's probably only a 1.1 too. With a VTR bodykit bolted to it.
We saw a corker the other evening at the pub before our mini meet.
I can't find a picture with a shit enough bodykit, but this is pretty close http://www.hmstores.co.uk/mainstore/images/saxo_sypher_1.jpg

I wasn't posting it because I liked it - I was posting it to demonstrate the setup of the "rear strut brace" I was talking about in my post. I completley agree with you all it is shit and looks shit.

I contacted Yokohama on Facebook about wider 10" tyres - they said there wasnt a demand. I find that hard to believe so if enough people (probably a few thousand) demanded them maybe theyd make some

I seriously doubt it!

I'm fine with 165's on 6" wide wheels, but I can see the frustration for those of you want the most from 7" wide wheels.
13x7's just dont suit every car, then theres the extra rotational inertia of them, and the bigger brakes and whatnot else.

That's me... I like 10"s and don't want to go up to 13s to get wider rubber.
Also not wanting it just spaced out to hell to get a look, mini geometry is bad enough as it is.

Also not trying to piss anyone off - just figured on this forum I might not be alone looking for wide rubber for cosmetic and performance reasons. There's a reason that track cars run those wide wheel miglia/Hoosier slick combos. But I'm no kid, I don't want to get nicked trying to be clever, nor f**k up my car because ive put stupid tyres on it!

Simply spotted em, and the treaded wets look bloody close to what I'm after on the surface of it. Shame - I would love a set of 195/60/10s. Rolling diameter would be near enough spot on too...

Have you had a look at trailer tyre's?
They're available in 195/50/10"
Only downside is..they're only allowed to do a max speed of 120 KMH.
Most of them are E stamped.
Except the one's from the States..
My 2 cents..

It's a little car .... eating big money

I think that you're right about people wnating a tyre to fit nicely on a 7' 10. The subject does come up now and again. But as Paul says, the reality is that there is no real demand for it to be worth while manufactures making any.

It is a shame though, as they would indeed look splendid and offer terrific amounts of grip.

There really only rated to 90mph, according to this document anyway: http://www.scribd.com/Marfy_Shiao_8260/d/6...-karts-Toys-etc

145kph = 90mph so on the road should be fine but on a track? Do you get passed 90mph much?

edit: I guess if you had a second set of wheels with track day tires you'd get around the 90mph on track issue so yeah deffinatly a good find :)

You'll have next to sweet F/A grip with those I reckon, the compound of specialised trailer tyres is generally harder than your average road tyre.

What a nonsense thread.

Really, who gives a flying fuck what the MOT people say ? the MOT people arent the police and they would be sending you to court for a potential 3 points per illegal tyre.

And there is more to tyre legality than simple 1.6mm over 75%. The actual tread has to comply with various rules on depth and amount of channel/solid rubber over a certain area as well as the 1.6mm
That's why even with trackday tyres there is tread over pretty much the entire tyre.

Bottom line is, would you risk your license over some tyres when you know damn well you'll never convince a cop or a judge of their legality ?

I know I wouldnt. What could you possibly have to gain by using them on the road ?

Hoosier tyres....i had a pair of slick's on at pod some years back,

long and short of it was i didnt take them off for the return journey,
Apart from feeling like i needed power steering,
once i got within a few miles from home i hit some traffic and was static for a while, once it started moving again i felt like i was driving on a bumpy road,
so, i got out and checked, and the passenger side tyre had lost all form, bulging out the side and top,
i put this down to excessive heat for a long duration from the side mount Rad,
So thats some experience of using NON E-marked tyres on the Road, would never ever do it again.....

these were slick's not even semi's

We ran the 20.5 inch height version of the second tyre in the wet on our formula student car over here. They wore down very quickly, under 50 ks on a 220 kg car with 70 hp.
Another uni ran them all week, maybe 150 ks and were down to the belts.

In boost we trust
