lol at TD.... cheeky fcuker.

hmm wonder how much difference losing a couple of lb (or stone before TD says so)will make for avon, i think id be better spending money on a rolling road tune rather than slimfast.

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

From the subaru vs Mini

"Rough workings out says my mini has 360bhp per tonne and the impreza 202bhp per tonne.... "

So if mini = 500Kg then bhp/ton = 1000/500 * BHP = 360
so this is a claimed 180bhp. I would say the figures add up.
Even if the driver was included in the calculation
1000/605 *BHP = 360
So this is 217bhp Still not miles away from reality......

Sounds like the best weight loss some of you guys could do is to take some lard out of the shim behind the wheel!!!!!!!!!!

Never sold my manifolds as the best in performance and have never made any claims for them. However they sure as hell work and when i finish of my car you'll be able to sample it if your serious about buying one. When we first started to do this we had owners of older minis who wanted to have a bit of fun, but did not want to mutilate the shell and fitted just about any model mini. As T Dave sais its the quickest way to stick a T2 on your car. I should have the rest of the bits on the shelf at some point soon so it will be a fit it in a weekend kit.

Can i be bothered to put a car together for the strip ?????????? was chatting to Nic earlier about it. Would really love to come and play on the strip with you guys (be good to see you in my mirror !! ha ha) but its just the time.

I, for one, am glad for the Mirage kit! I have a 1967 Cooper 's' shell, and cutting the bulkhead would be mutilation, in my mind! I'll make my turbo fit without cutting, thank you.

so what are the limitations of the mirage kit.

After im done building this rally car, im turning my road car turbo. Hopefully will be next summers project.

I was gonna do the typical metro installation, but if the mirage kit can cut the mustard, it will probably be easier and not much more expensive.

So what are the Pro's and Con's of the mirage kit?

Cheers guys

pros-you dont have to cut the bulkhead, it will take a t2 straight away, its alot easier than doing lots of wleding to your bulkhead, you get a life time guarentee on your investment

cons-its £350

i didnt find any limitations on my car

i know were probably splitting hairs, but the exhaust design isnt as good as the metro?

this probably wont make any difference to me, but to those guys out there who are after every once of power, what does this mean? a couple of horses?

Who knows what difference it makes... Will you notice? I doubt it. Would you be happy if you bought one - More than likely.
If buying one suits your needs, rather than cutting the Bulkhead, then crack on!

might just do that!

reason i asked is i got the impression that some of you thought the metro conversion was superior power wise.

makes no odds to me, i just want a turbo to tootle about in :)

power wise i suspect when getting into serious high power bands say 170bhp + you would want better manifold flow and even then you would probably only see a drop of a couple of horses.

I really cant imagine any real loss on lower power/spec cars.

Me and Nic have had very pleasing results with them.

i know this is an old thread, but, would it be better to cut the bulkhead for a T2 and use the metro manifold, or an uprated one, or whatever and have it siting in the balkhead for cooling reasons?
would you think it would be cooler sitting in the balkhead box or sitting on the mirage kit?

cheers

Again as stated in the thread - the choice is basically going to come down to your prioritys.

Do you want the hassel of chopping your bulkhead, welding a box in etc?

Or do you want to buy a system designed to avoid this at the slight expense of exhaust gas flow? But is made stainless steel - comes from a very helpful guy AND has a lifetime warrenty?

I know what I'd rather spend my hard earned on - I personally went for the mirage option and my new shell has no turbo bulkhead box. So I am biased towards this as an option.

Temp wise - I dont think you will see any difference either to the turbocharger Or the temp that comes into the car - as either way the turbo is sandwhiched at the back of the engine with no direct air flow.

Also consider the weight aspect - I don't know what the Mirage is compared to the Metro manifold, but I suspect it's less than half the weight?
