True, it was actually 183 mph.

Photos of my Timeslips from TOTB4 at Elvington, 31 July 2005.
Terminal speed, as measured at 1.25 miles from standing start.

D13 gets off the line well !!!
Most of the time gained over mine, is all in the first 1/8th. Thats good traction.

Nice run. Another 50bhp or so would probably get you close.

Nice to see Avon Park give such detailed timing slips.

An extra 50bhp, power to weight, is a big jump, assuming it all holds together and gets grip.

power to weight ratio.

50bhp in a light car will make a big difference.

50bhp in a car twice the weight, will have much less effect.

eg, and assuming my maths is correct
if you are 700kgs and have 150bhp.
thats approx 0.21 hp / kg
make that 200bhp and you have 0.28hp per kg

Thats roughly a 30% increase, which is huge.

If anyone disagrees, please say so. Im just thinking out loud.

That applies in a rwd car, and I think only with a live axle.. A Mini wouldnt suffer the same with its transverse layout.

I seen a vidlip recently, from the Ford event at Santa Pod. A blue MK2 ran a 10.4 !!!!! Dont know any details about the car.

the honda type r engines aparently rotate in a different direction so that weightmoves over the front wheels to aid traction

like bmw motorbikes which tilt to the side when you jump them, any way im getting very offf topic

got my old mw's out before, cant find any info on the 94 showdown, however i did notice a manx miglia car-its amazing how much they have changed in the llast 10 years

mw bogus ran a 17.020 whixh is shocking!!

I think you're flattering yourself Stevie. 14.5 is a pretty mediocre time for a Turbo mini these days.

And 200kGs of ballast?? that's 200 litres of water (or 10 full jerry cans) sat in your car somewhere. I just don't believe this.

You may have weighed your car, but the scales weren't working.

Your car is still a great motor though, especially considering it's age, but not as heavy as youthink IMO.

Also worth mentioning. I ran my car with fixed ignition (25 deg) then switched to a fully mappable system. On boost power was little changed as the advance was the same (25 deg). The main gaines were in the boost threshold area and 'pre' boost.

This makes the car more drivable and better for what I use it for, but would make bugger all differance up the dragstrip. unless your gear ratios are rubbish

I think 14.5 is an amazing time, i mean it takes the top cars to get times that fast!

Loook at me with a standard full weight road car, road tires, no intercooler, 10psi off boost and no drag strip experiance and I got 14.4!

So I mean that proves how great your times are, so feel free to boast and tell everyone else how they are doing it wrong!
