Surely if you put a decent rollcage in it will tie into the tops of the rear coilover mounts so not much of an issue?

Interesting stat:

Floorpan weight 17.8kg *surprised*

Lift it with one hand.

I'm asking myself the same question :)

I'd like to say road use, but then we are in the realms of SVA testing, meeting current emissions etc.

not if you used the top of a mini shell and keep the V5

I would also be concerned about side impact protection

Whoops, bent it :(

Just exploring the software capabilities, so this is garbage in, garbage out at the moment, but shows where the failure would ocurr without further support.

Most the documentation states that if you interfere with the monocoque, you are stuffed.

Side impact is a problem.

I would not have used the honeycomb behind the rear axel or infront of front. I would have used honeycomb for the floor, rear heelboard and front firewall + sills. Then build a multipoint cage to tie every suspension points together.
But, what is the purpose of the build??

I suppose really it's just a design exercise at the moment. If I can't see a way to get an MOT without too much faffing about and expense, then that's as far as it will go. No interest in a pure track car, tried that.

Spaceframes are 60s memorabilia IMHO. I have to use a roll cage to protect the passengers, so might as well use it to tie things together, albeit reluctantly.

Thinking of honeycomb pontoons to support the engine and front suspension next.
